The optician who did my actual eye test was excellent - she was lovely, polite, considerate, articulate, informative. Absolutely 5 stars for her. But the pre-test and additional scans (for which I paid £50) were really not up to standard. When the optician looked at my most expensive scan - the Optimap - it was not adequate as half of the image for both eyes had been obscured by my eyelid, begging the question, why did the young woman tasked with doing those scans not spot that when they were being taken? It suggests that she was not properly trained. The result was that I had to go back and be scanned again - surely a waste of everybody's time. But when I went back for the re-scan, the young man operating the optimal scanner seemed unable to get it to work. Whether that was a fault on the machine or again perhaps his lack of training I couldn't tell, but the end result was I spent about twenty minutes waiting for them to get the thing to work - rebooting it etc. To be fair both young people were very polite and personable but I was left feeling that neither of them were quite up to the job - which isn't their fault but absolutely the responsibility of Boots to ensure that their staff are fully trained and able to make the technology work properly.
I should also add that the headrest for the OCT scanner seemed to be held together with brown peeling sellotape - I kid you not. It looked very tatty, and although that scan was fine, if a customer is paying £50 for the privilege than it's not a look that fills you with confidence. Some serious attention needs to be paid to both the kit and the training of the junior staff of this particular branch of Boots Opticians.

Jamila and Houda at Boots in Maidenhead were amazing. Jamila noticed a birthmark/freckle on my eye and sent me for further tests. No one had ever seen this before. She was incredibly thorough and caring and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

First class service from all staff at Southport that we met including the optometrist. Great commitment to customers.

Great service from Lorraine at Boots Opticians in Worcester. She’s a genius at adjusting glasses and had a ‘can do’ attitude- very refreshing. Thank you Lorraine 🙏

Great customer service and advice

The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially as we were pushed for time at the end of the appointment, they all dealt with me exceptionally well.

My go to optician has become Christa in Stirling. She has examined my eyes throughly three times, taking time and effort to explain to process and give me tips on good eye health following an eye op. I always leave my appointment with full confidence in my examination and cannot recommend Crysta enough.

What made the experience great was that the staff were amazing and very helpful and that they are very patient and talk you through what there going to do and they make you feel very welcome I couldn't recommend them enough the the service was absolutely fantastic 10/10

They were polite extremely professional and thorough with the examination right up to selecting the right specs

Amazing service

The test was a lot simpler than previously the bright light to examine eyes is on the machine so is alot quicker and more comfortable

As always fantastic service; staff is always very welcoming especially Barbara and amazingly professional while being friendly. Rare combination that I have not seen much, so Kudos to them.

While reception was a tiny bit slow everything else was perfect

A lens had fallen out of my glasses, and Bev quickly put it back in for me. She was polite and friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised that the service was totally free. I've always had a nice experience at Boots Opticians in York, and this was no exception.
