If I could give zero stars I would. What an awful experience, completely misleading from the beginning, claimed to be the training provider, they are NOT. They act as a middle man and charge an additional £1500 for what you can get if you go direct. Told that training was in one place, it was somewhere else completely. Took £100 up front for a £40 medical! At no point did they state they were the middle man or that by going direct to the trainer you could get the course much cheaper. Promised a guaranteed job at the end of it, again a load of rubbish. Hard lesson learnt however I don't want others making the same mistake. My advice is DO YOUR HOMEWORK first. My training was with Freight Train who A) charge £1500 less for the same thing and B) really do guarantee a job if you pass.

Carlos has been in touch with me since day 1 if I had any queries and had to message him he always responded within minutes with the answer honestly can’t fault them in any way thank you so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼and also the company they use to train you are the most understanding helpful guys I’ve come across again thank you all

I dealt with Paul through HGV Direct and I have zero complaints. He was always available to answer any of my questions and was extremely accommodating. The service I received was amazing from start to finish and I would definitely recommend Paul & HGV Direct.

my experience with direct hgv has been nothing but positive Carlitos was who I originally spoke with on the phone and has been an incredible help with regards to keeping in contact with things that are happening, Paul was also an amazing help with booking in tests,practical dates and has always kept in contact throughout, without direct hgv I would've never have thought about going for my class 2 licence and they made the overall experience of it all easier, can't recommend direct hgv enough

I’ve no idea what could’ve gone wrong for my experience with DirectHGV to be so different to all the rest of these reviews. I paid just over £2500 in full, on the 22nd July 2025, to complete my Cat C HGV license. Early on in the process I mentioned I’d like it all to be completed by the 11th November as I was travelling for several weeks until Christmas. There was a lack of communication from all three of the guys I dealt with. On the 4th September I first asked Carlos to book my theory test, to which he said yes. This had taken a long time from payment because of my busy work commitments, but from this day on I was intent on completing everything as so only as possible. Unfortunately we couldn’t book it yet because my license was with the DVLA. This arrived on the 11th and I asked Carlos to book the test. He said the booking team would take care of it. On Monday 15th I had to yet again ask for it to be booked. Carlos once again assured me he would get on it. Finally on Friday 19th, after prompted again by me, Paul from the bookings team called me late afternoon. He told me the soonest booking date was three weeks away. I was looking at the available days myself and could see there were options the following week. He said that’s because he was booking for both theory sections, plus the cpc mod 2. Carlos originally recommended that I do that after the practical training so I hadn’t prepared for this. I relayed this to Paul, and suggested days that were available. But Paul had finished for the day. So, the following Monday morning I message Paul, with dates off of the website prepared so we could get it booked. He was on leave.. Once again I had to ask Carlos and he passed me over to Alex. He suggested a test date 10 days later. I told him no, as there was dates available just two days later, and finally we were getting somewhere and it was booked. What a headache. Passed it, and was booked in to the practical theory, which to its credit was great. All though this is with an outside company. Now we get to booking the cpc mod 2. We agreed a date for 22nd October. However, DirectHGV didn’t tell me I would need to keep my license after I passed my practical test. So when the examiner had asked for it, I gave it to him. And so I couldn’t do my cpc because DVLA had my license. We rebooked for the 3rd November at a test centre an hour away. When I got there, the test centre tell me i haven’t been booked in. Alex had forgotten to book the test but had told me it was all go. Two tests missed, two days booked off of work for absolutely no reason. 2hours of driving plus car parking just to be told this. Great work! Finally, 3rd November, cpc booked and passed, and the mod 4 similarly passed in the same week. So from payment in July, I completed the day before I was due to travel causing a lot of unnecessary stress from their lack of competence. When I asked Carlos about a refund due to the work I had to miss because of their screwups I was ignored. Not to mention in the original call with Carlos he told me part of their service is finding me a job after I’ve passed everything, and have yet to hear anything. Not even a congratulations for completing. Like I said, no idea how my experience can be so different from everyone else’s. For me this was a more expensive option than others, but I was assured the customer service was so good it made up for it. They are all very nice, friendly guys, but too much went wrong.

Would 100% recommend Direct HGV for anyone who wants to be a lorry or truck driver. They were always ready and willing to give the necessary guidelines from day one till last especially Paul, who was super marvellous anytime, anyway and anyhow in my quest to become a truck driver. Kudos to Paul, you are a genius.
