Locksmith 24h

Can't even give 1 star. Absolute rip off. Rang office and complained was told to email and have been ignored. Avoid at all costs... if I could have cancelled the payment to these people I would have. Trading standards will be contacted.

Absolute con artists!!!
My mother in law got locked out whilst we were away called an emergency lock Smith was quoted £55 callout and £120 for lock and barrell.
What she has ended up paying was £65 callout £185 door opening and labour and £115 for the labour.
None of these costs were discussed until the work had been done and then she was pressurised into paying when she queried it!!
The locksmith that came has taken advantage of a lady in a vulnerable situation and conned her out of a considerable amount of money!!!

Very unsafe experience.

The assigned locksmith said he would arrive at 7:45 at the latest. I explained I had to leave the house at 8am (work/kids school day). He arrived at 8:58am and called and messaged repeatedly. I explained again via text why I wasn’t available. He sent me a message with blame accounted to me for messing him around!
I felt obliged to rearrange another time as he had my address and phone number. I asked a neighbour to be a second person in the house for the visit. I re-confirmed the quoted amount of £39 call out plus £60.
When the locksmith arrived, he was in a small car without tools. He didn’t make any attempt to open the small Yale safe. He said he would need to damage the lock. No problem I said. How much? £39 + £200. I refused.

When I had to go to his car to pay, he had other callout only invoices on his passenger seat. No actual jobs done.

I’m not sure if he was a locksmith but I’m very sure I’ve been scammed.

My neighbour who joined me during this experience used to be in charge of security for a huge government department and recommend to only use a longstanding high street branded company. I can see that this is sound advice sadly as I love supporting the gig/sole trader industry.

Best of luck all.

My mum who is 70 locked herself out of her flat, charged 209 quid to open the door and wanted another 500 to replace the barrel, con merchants, absolutely aviod.....

Scammers. They didn't even try to open the lock. Strait away to drilling! never call them BE AWARE.
They tell you a cheaper price over the phone and the guy starts calculating 2 times more after he arrives.
The worse experience ever

This company
Locksmith--24h.co.uk are crooks, thefts & will try to rob you of nearly £700 to change a lock. Do not ever call them.

Scammers. Cost £89 for a call out despite quoting £39 in advance. Then tried to charge me almost £700 to replace the locks. Managed to get it open myself in the end. Avoid at all costs.

They are a scam. I called them 2 days back around 3.30pm and they totally ripped my friend off for a 3 second job. They arrived late. They are not reliable at all. My friend (a single mum) had left her keys inside the house and she locked the door. Her phone was out of charge. We rang this company, and The lady on phone quoted £55 and said max would be total £100 to open the door. The guy just took just 3 seconds to open the door with an instrument and said i would need to pay £256 because of his 3 seconds experience. I called back the number and they said i can write an email to manager. But surprisingly i couldn't find any email. This happened in Farnborough, Hampshire. If i had an option to give him negative stars, i would have done that. They r a total rip off. Dont trust their website.

Stay well clear away. Two guys turned up at my neighbour house. was very rude and trying to rip her off with there high prices. £49 just to turned up and £150 to drilled the barrel through, then £250 for a locked. Wish I was there earlier to chased them away before the drilling started. In the end I pop to b&q and bought £30 yale locked and fit it in 5 minutes. I think the locksmiths you sending out are Scammers. Your two scammers what you send in Ashford kent should be Band from society.

SCAM ARTIST
£50 call out fee then the engineer turns up and tries To charge £149 plus vat to drill the lock I asked the lady 3 times what does this £50 cover and she specifically told me it was to gain access, the engineer didn’t bother to either pick the lock he straight away said it needed drilling stay away from this company

Do not use this company under any circumstances!!!

We were quoted £49 call out over the phone. The locksmith (and his mate that he brought up with him that did nothing other than doodle on a magazine) said it was minimum £100 call out charge plus whatever the labour was. We argued about this for a while and so I called the office who confirmed £49. The price went down to £49 but he was doing it ‘as a favour for you buddy’. The quote then was £125. The lock was drilled. It was then £150 because of VAT…and I was asked if I was going to ‘fit the new lock myself’. And then it was another £40 to fit the new lock…

I was then asked repeatedly to walk one of them to the car to get the replacement lock…I wouldn’t do this as frankly didn’t trust them with the flat open. We argued about this. Eventually he went on his own so I stayed, with his mate, to ‘guard’ the flat.

Eventually he returned and the lock was fitted. I counted out £190 cash. Gave to the locksmith. He counted £170. ‘Give me £20 more you are short.’ I snatched the cash out of his hand and counted slowly the full £190 and then again on a flat surface to him to see. He took it again and recounted and finally conceded it was all there.

They left, leaving behind mess and metal from the job saying ‘you need to hoover the metal up as it’s sharp’.

I feel compelled to warn people about this company

I would put a minus score if possible. I rang this company for an elderly neighbour who couldn't open her door. They wouldn't give a price but when pushed they said £59 call out charge. I cancelled and said that my neighbour couldn't afford that. I rang another company - no call out charge and very pleasant! These people came anyway!!! He put the key in the lock and the door opened. He then said he wanted £70.09. He said it was so expensive because "YOUR GOVERNMENT" make him pay VAT. I told him that he shouldn't be here because I had cancelled the call out. He said he had touched my neighbours door and so he had done his work and it wasn't his problem that she is 88. I refused to pay on account that I had cancelled and he shouldn't have come anyway. WELL .....the language cannot be repeated, it was vile. He was making all sorts of hand gestures while shouting abuse at me. Apparently "we English" dont pay for anything. This was followed by a load of racist abuse. I just smiled and wished him a Merry Christmas, which riled him more😇

This company seriously overcharges for its services. I have paid more than double what other would have charged for the same service of opening a couple of doors. £399 to drill a hole and open a front door and £199 to open a metal gate. The call out fee was £49. Total came to £776. Another locksmith said it should only be about £250. They advertise to arrive within 25 min but they arrived after 1 hour. Unfortunately Locksmiths are unregulated and you're desperate so you end up paying them. AVOID!!!

Key broke in my front door, so I called out a locksmith. Intially send £55. Locksmith called me up and said it was another £89.

He drilled out the lock and replaced it, it took no more than 10mins. After he got in, he said it will now be £55 callout fee, £249 for opening the door and £139 for the lock. Total = £443 + VAT = £531.60.

Donot under any circumstances use this company. They attempted to charge my elderly parents £260 for less than 5 minutes work. They were also unbelievably rude. Having negotiated a lower price, to get them out of the house, the lock failed again the next day. They should be prosecuted by Trading Standards as scammers. DONOT use.

avoid at all costs, professional con artists. Not qualified locksmiths, charged £240 for 20 min work, tried to charge £500

Scammers.
Call out = £55
Plastic card to open porchdoor = £65
Tried to say front door was anti-pick so would have to drill out locks = £200+ cost quoted.
Luckily we knew he was talking bulls**t and called him out on it.
Surprise surprise, opened in a second with plastic card.
Total time = 2 mins
Total Cost = £222

called locksmith to change a lock, they charged me a callout charge of £39+VAT and then said that an investigation would be required to understand if the barrel needed changing or the mechanism. they said this would cost £195 on top of the call out charge. I sent them on their way and called a proper locksmith.

I was conned by these guys. They tried to charge me £2500 and then “reduced” it to £1545. Their operative said he was Hungarian and had come up from Crawley. I am involving my bank and the police. If anyone else in the Surrey area has been forced to pay over the odds and wants to join forces on bringing these rogues to justice please fill in a police report.
