Worst insurance ever with no regard for accountability and fixing problems. Do not use mercury.
We had mercury for over a decade without any claims made at all. We had $480K in coverage plus dwelling A. Our roof got a bad leak when weather turned to rain at the start of the rainy season. These were heavy rains. We called insurance which was mercury at the time. They sent out an adjuster who saw the damage and mold growing and took pictures and even sent a crew out to dry the area and collect water with machines left in our home. This was the only claim we ever made and we were in good standing with mercury. They denied the claim. We contacted the california dept. Of insurance because we knew they made a bad faith claim. They sent us a threatening letter saying they will drop us if it isnt fixed, to which the dept of insurance told mercury they couldn't do that.
Then continued to send us letters telling us we needed to provide them proof our roof was fixed or they were going to drop us. We did not fix the roof, that was their job, that's why they were paid monthly to take care of obligations that arise, not steal money and then say they won't fix it.
We ended up with another insurance company that cares and they fixed our roof without raising our payment. Ao they fixed mercury's mess to begin with and on top of that they just showed the public that even if you pay them they will not honor a claim for repairs that is rightesously warranted and then will try to threaten you with letters as if we would care. You cant threaten a veteran household. So mercury, be grateful you still have a CEO after all the damage you cause to families and the people you've stolen from under insuramce loopholes.
We will still be looking into suing for damages including grief caused to our autistic son which will absolutely cost way more than just fixing our roof amd doing what was right to begin with. We've documented everything. Thank you for dropping us, it wasn't wise, but we're glad you were dumb enough to do it because someone in your chain of workers thought it was a wise thing to deny a claim, exercise a bad faith claim from your side and then threaten us expecting us to do the job to fix the very issue we pay to insurance to do when the problem arises. Its ok, youre special and don't understand. Seeking damages will be much more profitable for us. Have a good one mercury, ruining more family lives one season at a time nationwide.

Mercury In’s. is the best insurance company over all. From their professionalism, efficiency and communication skills. They pretty much made it easy for me and they worked and provided all information on quote. I got a better price on my policy with a lot better coverage. This was the perfect policy, everything was going right.
I appreciated it so much that I referred my mother to Mercury when her h/o policy was going to expire. She acquired H/O insurance through Mercury as well. Again, great coverage for a very fair price. We are happy!

Mercury has THE WORST customer service I've ever seen in 54 years of driving as they won't cancel a policy over the phone--it ONLY can be done over a computer or by snail mail or Fax. IF you don't have access to a private computer or FAX machine DO NOT use Mercury.!! I don't have access to a FAX machine or a PC computer and have been trying to get my Renter's policy cancelled since March 23rd 2026.........its now July 27th 2026 and still Mercury hasn't cancelled my policy. 4 CS agents over the phone won't tell you that you must send in your cancellation request using email when originally notifing them in March (2 + months ahead of cancellation date). HORRIBLE customer service at this company..!! Beware and be informed..!!

It was great to have a real human to follow up with. I’m only 50 but I get so tired of the automated systems. There was some miss recorded information on my Carfax and the agent was able to contact underwriting and get it taken care of. She really went the extra mile. An automated system would’ve just looped me to infinity on that one.

Ms. Hicko was great as the agent and explained all the discounts and coverage options for auto, home and umbrella.

Mercury is my HO-6, condo policy. I had a water claim and Mercury found ever reason to deny my claim, instead of working to help me find coverage to accept my claim. They found a technicality that I started water remediation four days late. There was no additional cost of the claim due to the delay. Mercury just found a way to get out of paying. My neighbor, where the event occurred, was on the exact same timeline as me, and his carrier, State Farm, covered his portion of the claim. I will never buy Mercury Insurance again. They are in it for their shareholders not their policy holders.

The service from Mercury was disappointing. Although filing my claim was straightforward, I faced major delays in communication afterward. It felt like my inquiries were ignored at times, which added unnecessary stress. I expected better management of the claims process overall.

There was always someone to speak to in order to move my application along the assembly line.

I prepaid for a year of renters insurance. I bought a home 7 months in and when I called to cancel my renters insurance I was charged a $50 cancellation fee.....even though I prepaid for a year. So they got my year and becuase I cancelled in a year I was billed an additional $50. READ the fineprint! I will never use them again.

The process to go through all the options of the quote was easy and effective.
After filling out a new quote request online i had some additional questions and called the 800 number. I explained my scenario to the agent and he pointed me in the right direction on the various options right away in a very friendly manner.
