I was forced to end a conversation, after more than an hour of transfers, when their accelerated service department refused to answer a simple yes or no question.

On receipt of my weekly usage email, I called to dispute a charge for, more than, 1/4 of my daily usage, when the entire region was without power.

After being transferred through a half dozen employees, all repeatedly reading from their laminated, pocket cards of alibis and excuses, I asked Emily:
"Are you going to keep repeating yourself; or, are you going to find someone to correct the facts in your email?"

She replied: " All of them will tell you the same thing."

How many millions in profit will Reliant make from charging customers in a blackout for, unused, electricity?

The company representative did not tell me about cancellation fee. I just found out when I switched to another company. I was unable to return to Reliant when I tried to cancel the switch.

Reliant Energy falsified information and billed me as a Florida resident for over $1700 for services I didn't order and didn't use in some town in Texas. They took the position that I had to prove that it wasn't me when I had no idea where the service was even provided. Clearly, they never did their due diligence when someone used my name but couldn't provide adequate identification. In pursuing the correction, they were extremely uncooperative and refused to respond to email communications. Yet, they were happy to send the account to collections damaging my credit for a year. What a horrible company! I plan on suing for damages because they agreed that we need to go through a legal process to resolve their wrong doing. This was even after my case was "escalated". Such a waste of time!

The sales rep that came to our house Robert Perkins told me 3 different lies in order to get my business. 1. He told me that a bill had passed making it illegal for companies to charge a early termination fee. That was right but only applied to cable and satellite companies not utility companies. 2. He told me that reliant would pay for any early disconnect fee. Not true they will give you 150.00 on your 2nd monthly bill but that doesn't help when your on a small fixed Income and the one you were using demands 307.00 from you. 3. He said just pay for the electricity on your final bill from the other Co. It won't hurt your credit because it's illegal for them to charge it. Not true if I don't pay it by the due date they will put a slow pay on my credit which my score is 815 and that would drop it by 85 points. So after being on the phone with reliant for over 2 hours they said to bad we already have you signed up and if you cancel now you will owe us 395.00. I also called that rep on the same day that he came and told him to send me the information on how to cancel with reliant that's when he hung up on me. So I texted him and told him to cancel the contract with reliant or send me the info on how to do it and I even told reliant that I had the texts to prove that I ask him to cancel reliant said to bad nothing we can do for you. So please stay clear of reliant they are even more misleading than all the others. Also I have reported them to the government site that keeps an eye on utility companies they ask for the name of the rep I worked with so yes Robert Perkins I have them your name and number. I received a call from reliant after they read the review I wrote. It was from a different department . I have to say she was very nice she ask allot of questions and when it was over they willingly transferred me back to my previous company and removed all charges with reliant. So they were very quick to respond and very quick to make it right. Thank you reliant.

We have had reliant for 18 months and pricing has gotten worse so I decided to check around for some thing less expensive and found TXU with some better plans so I proceeded to go through the steps to enroll. Little did I know that I would be hit with a $395 penalty for changing which is about the cost of Reliant for 1 month. I am extremely upset and disappointed . If there was a way for me to get even, I would. Who ever reads this, be sure and read the small print cause they are not above taking your money.

Reliant energy hits you with so many fees and my bill this month is $670. They also don’t support veterans. If you like massive electric bills then go with reliant! This is a company will talk you into switching plans then charge when you do. Reliant energy is the scum of the energy industry…

Fraudulently charging customers for budget billing and falsely advertised “free weekends”. SMH…nothing is free. My last invoice bill before I closed my account was $785. They refused to remove the early termination fee of $150. This company makes up their own rules and is a total SCAM!!!!! I switched to 4changeenergy, and sooooooooo glad I did. I filed a complaint with the PUC but they found Reliant to be trustworthy and not in violation. However, my bill says it all. My home is only 1,600 sq. ft. with two people living here. How did we use that much electricity to get a bill over $500????? Explain that! It’s not due to the summer heat. My home is well insulated, and my A/C is efficient. The only thing I can think of was that I was overcharged way more than I should have been.

This company scams you out of the account credit they give you to switch companies, which is supposed to pay for your cancellation fee for your last provider. Somehow after switching I had a big bill that just happened to use up my whole account credit, in winter, in texas. And I'm sure I didn't use the power their logs showed I did, because this was during the texas power outage from the winter storm, and they showed me as using a bunch of power when we had no power most of the time.

The representative I talked with, Miguel, was very helpful and exhibited five star customer service. He was completely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Kudos to Miguel!!!
