Terrible company

Terrible, Terrible Terrible company, I have been trying to get a refund for a 3ds console that I purchased from them for a Christmas present last year, the console did not work. Reached out to them a few days later about the issue and it's now May 20th, they have the console and still no refund only excuse after excuse! Please save your time and money buy somewhere else

I’ll start with the positive seeing…

I’ll start with the positive seeing there isn’t much. I order a PlayStation one bundle with 2 games. The PlayStation system came fast and was well packaged and working. That’s about all positives. The games that were advertised to come with the system did not come with the system I received them in 2 separate packages weeks after receiving the system. One of the games final fantasy 8 came with no case and the last 2 disk I would be very surprised if they actually work. There help desk completely ignored my email. When I asked where the games that were advertised to come with my system were I was told they have several “warehouses” and the games would be shipped separately which kinda defeats the purpose of advertising as a bundle package If you ask me. Also that’s a complete lie seeing one of the games I received came with a receipt from eBay. There advertising is extremely misleading and safe to say after spending $300 here that I will never use this site again. The only reason they got 2 stars is because the system does work other than that there service is crap.

Oh gosh.....

Oh gosh...... seeing how all I see are BAD reviews about this place I am now worried. I literally just spent 209 dollars on a psp, memory card, and game.... all I know is that I BETTER get good quality equipment or I'll run this place to the ground

They do not honor their product or their return policy

I was so excited to get my game system. I ordered a classic NES console with 2 controllers and multiple games, none of which were shipped together, none of which worked. The company is now saying since “I changed my mind” they are going to charge a 10% restocking fee and will not send me prepaid shipping labels to return the faulty product. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

The reason we have to sometimes ship an item or multiple items separately is in a situation where all of the items in an order are not readily available in our main warehouse. In this case, we ship them directly from another warehouse. This does increase our shipping costs but, this way, we can make sure that the complete order can be delivered to our customers within the expected time frame.

We offer a 121-day replacement warranty and you should not have to pay any charges for in this case. If your order was under the 30-day return period, you should have been able to return the order without any fee.

Nice GameCube looks new

Update: I updated my review to 5 stars, because They shipped out another replacement controller lightning fast, and they were quick to process a refund on another order I have canceled. I have had nothing but a good experience with this company.

I was skeptical of buying from this company because of the bad reviews. However, I thought I would give them a chance. I ordered a GameCube with controller & Memory Card. I also ordered a Nintendo 64 Rumble Pack. I’ve not received the rumble pack yet. The GameCube package was packed well and very secure. When opened the GameCube looked brand new. I received the orange model which is supposed to be region locked to Japan. It plays US games with no issue so maybe they converted it, I don’t know. As far as shipping, I saw no signs of drop shipping. The return label had the shipper as Retro vGames, and there were a couple of advertisements from them in the box. I’m giving 4 stars because the aftermarket controller does not work at all. I contacted them & they’re supposed to send a replacement. Hopefully, it will be fast. At least I had a spare GameCube controller of my own. I purchased an additional 1 year warranty so I’m covered if issues arise.

EBAY AND AMAZON DROPSHIPPERS

They buy all their merchandise from other sellers and have those sellers ship it directly to you.

They never see the games, they never test the games. They really have no idea what the condition or working order of any of their merchandise is. They say they ship from several warehouses, but this a complete lie. Why would you trust a company that so blatantly lies about their business practices? Just go to Ebay and buy the stuff yourself. At least you can view what that seller is like first hand. The response they will leave to this review will be a lie like all the other responses.

These guys are dropshippers

These guys are dropshippers. They buy from legitimate sellers on eBay and Amazon and try to scam the item away. They will then either dropship from a seller to your address or they buy or steal the item, get it sent to there place and send it directly to the customer for 3x the price. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

Poor communication and follow up

I ordered a PS3 and as far as I can tell the console is fine. However, the controller that was sent with it has a broken shoulder button. I initially contacted customer service by email and was told to "document" the problem with photos and/or a video. As requested, I created a YouTube video and sent the link to customer service. I received an initial response saying that they were looking into the issue, but have not heard from anyone since. I have now reached out several more times by email and have been met with complete silence. At this point, it doesn't look like my problem will be taken care of. I also found out this company drop ships so they don't have their own inventory. You are purchasing an item from an unknown seller and that information is not available to you, the buyer. Would highly recommend against using this company and instead find a local retro game store or a more reputable online dealer.

Broken Xbox and poor customer service

I bought a refurbished Xbox One. When it came it didn't work even though they said it was "thoroughly tested". I asked what was required to send it back, they told me and I followed the instructions. When I followed up they told me they needed more info which I didn't have and basically said there is nothing they can do about it. $300 down the drain with a broken product and horrible customer service

Do NOT Shop here

I ordered 2 games off their site, separately because the first purchase came with a discount code.

So i placed a second ordered and they lost it, I talked to customer support like several times, 3 times over the phone and on the phone they told me they could not find my order, and insisted it doesn’t exist.

When i emailed them they said the order was delivered and then sent me my first orders details.

I still never got my second game, but instead of admitting fault or trying to help me find the order or figure it out, they kept my money and insisted it was delivered even tho it never was.

I did get the first game, but the second game never came and it feels like I’ll never see it. My card company declined to dispute the charges because the company claims they delivered my game.

It’s been a month but I’m accepting the loss cause the gaslighting from this company is unbearable. There’s no point in arguing with hustlers. DO NOT SHOP HERE.

Learn from my mistakes

Learn from my mistakes and reading some good reviews, Avoid them at all cost. Orderd a 3ds xl. Relieved an LL and wouldn't play games. Contacted them. Got a replacement, but again another LL that doesn't play 3ds games. Contact for refund. Make you cover shipping return, won't guarantee a refund, bunch of scam artists. Don't know how they have had any good reviews.

Avoid this company!

They will happily take your money then give you nothing in return except a runaround when you call to find out why you never received your item.

I placed an order on 3/4 for 1 PS3 controller. On 3/7 the status updated to "partially shipped" (whatever that means). On 3/16 I called to find out why I never received the item and was asked to call back on Monday. Monday I called, they took my info and said they would get back to me (never happened). Tuesday I called again, they took my info (again) with another promise to look into the issue and get back to me.

Read the reviews (I wish I had), this is not a unique experience with them. The next calls I make will be to my credit card company, the BBB, and the State Attorney General.

3 different games, all the same issues

I ordered 3 different ps4 games; all of which came with damage to the cases and two of them in the wrong case all together.

What further enraged the experience was that I specifically payed an extra $17 for one of the games to come in a case, only to find the corner cracked and missing a chunk.

After messaging back and forth, with what appears to be either a bot or a script written response that kept passing the blame to their review team, the best they could do was a ‘sincere’ apology and a lousy 5% of my money back. I then further messaged to at least try and get the $17 back I specifically spent for a case and they denied it but graciously gave me a 10% off card for my next visit so I can go and give them more money.

I wish I would’ve done more digging before buying but lesson learned and it will not happen again. Steer clear of this site if you can, you have been warned.

Scam!!!! Received a broken N64 console

Update 02.28.24: received the response from the vendor and it is a embarassing excuse for bad products and customer service. There is ZERO chance that this console was ever tested by Retrovgames. Both power cable and AV cable were broken irreparably and the console itself cannot even latch onto the game cartridges.
Anyone with a brain cell, knows that the N64 was discontinued and that was the very reason I purchased this console for my Veteran husbands 40th birthday. A bit of nostalgia of our childhood. And now it has been tainted by this experience.
RetroVGames and the blatant excuses your actions and representation of being a scam business (especially on a reputable platform like TrustPilot) will not work with me.
Your response is not acceptable. Period

Received a broken N64 console. Completely broken from all levels.
Bought it for my husbands birthday and he didn't plug it in for a few months as he was travelling and then when I complained it was outside of the 121 day return window and therefore they did nothing.
Do not buy from this business.

The Nintendo 64 was discontinued by Nintendo in 2002. All of the consoles available are used. Considering the age of the consoles, even after testing them before shipping them out, they can still malfunction. I cannot believe this company is still in operation

Other reviews summarize this company pretty well already -- everything on their website (inventory, photos, reviews, etc.) is fake. They sell games/systems at very overpriced values, attempting to take advantage of consumers who 1) don't know the value of the item they are buying and/or 2) are hoping for the comfort that comes with buying from a specialized business (testing, reputation, guarantees, etc.) vs other secondhand stores.

The big trick here is that they don't have the items they're selling at all, they simply acquire it for the customer after the purchase has been made.

Once the customer has placed an order, they then use the customer's money to buy a similar item on eBay as cheaply as possible. They have the eBay seller ship the item directly to Retro vGames' customer without the company ever receiving, inspecting, or testing the item themselves.

They intentionally obscure this fact not only from their customer but also from the eBay seller they are purchasing from.

Many people use the word "dropshipping" for this company's practice, but it is not accurate. Dropshipping is entering into a partnership with a supplier and effectively reselling it for them. The item ships directly from the supplier to the end user, and the "dropshipper" gets a cut for making the sale. This is a legitimate business practice and contains appropriate agreements from the individual parties.

What this company is doing is not dropshipping, and it's not legitimate. They are not only scamming their direct customers, they are scamming the eBay users they are purchasing from as well, buying under false identities and also filing fake chargebacks whenever tracking isn't updated on time.

I want to note how it important it is here that the company is giving the private, personal details of their original customer (name, address, and purchase details) to a third party without the user's consent.

Not only have they likely scammed you out of time and money, or at least caused frustration and headaches, they've also intentionally given your personal information to unknown parties without the right to do so.
