Beware: deceptive recurring fees

I used Rileo once for a single transcription and paid for it. Today, weeks later, I discovered they used my card to charge me an unauthorized $56 monthly subscription fee. When I emailed support to ask for my money back, they confirmed the cancellation but tried to offer me a "free month" instead of returning my money. They use a sleazy, deceptive billing practice and I would NEVER have trusted this company with payment information if I had known.

Takes money on repeat!!!!

Wanted and agreed to one transcript; then taken into a subscription I hadn't agreed to and had no notice for. As soon as I cancelled it with my bank also no confirmation of it being cancelled.

What a weird way to make money online!

UPDATE FROM JUNE 24: Still NOTHING from them. It's been 14 days that they are ignoring my emails. This is sad, but I had to ask my bank to block payments and initiate a chargeback. Rileo, why are you making this more difficult on yourself?

What a weird way to make money online!
I probably have more than 30 different subscriptions and this was by far the weirdest situation I had so far.

Same as a lot of other people here, I signed up to the service by paying a small fee in order to transcribe my audio files. The app itself works, it does the job, but a few days later I was surprised by a 39 euros charge on my bank account.

Tricky way of sneaking in terms and conditions in a way that people don't have the chance to read it! But fine,
I looked at cancelling the service and this option doesn't exist in a direct way. You are forced to send an email to the support team.

The weirdest thing? There are several messages throughout the website saying "We are going to get back to you in 24 hours".

Well, I've been emailing them for MORE THAN A WEEK and conveninetly they don't get back to me.

Rileo, stop ignoring my emails!

I want the cancellation of my subscription and the reimubersement of my first payment under the right to withdraw rule (I am in a member of the EU).

Let's avoid a chargeback, shall we?

good tool for transcript but beware, thats a scam company. They were showing one time fee £1.49 and in the hindsight they activated a subscription plan of £39.99 per month so be extremely careful!!!!

'Forced' Monthly Subscription without contact

They charge you 1 EUR to use the service once, but aren't clear that you will be charged 39,99 a month afterwards. If you don't check your bank, this could go on for months.

I have been charged twice without knowing or being e-mailed. You would expect that you would receive communication regarding an activated subscription, but this did not happen.

Their feels misleading and dishonest

The product itself is good and works well, but I am very disappointed with the company’s payment practice. They present it as if you are paying for one specific service, but in reality they sign you up for a subscription. This feels misleading and dishonest
A good product should not need such tricks.

Cheeky fine print!

A frustrating experience with eventual resolution.

I signed up believing I was making a one-off payment for a single transcript. I later discovered I had been charged approximately NZ$70 through a recurring subscription that I genuinely did not realise I had entered into.

As soon as I became aware of the charge, I cancelled and contacted support. Unfortunately, I received multiple generic responses repeating the refund policy rather than addressing my concerns.

After considerable back and forth, the matter was eventually resolved. However, I was disappointed that it took repeated requests before my concerns were properly addressed. The subscription terms were displayed in small grey text at the bottom of the checkout page, while the trial pricing was displayed prominently. It's easy to see how customers could focus on the $0.99/$1.49 price without appreciating the recurring monthly charge that follows.

The customer service experience was frustrating, dismissive, and far more difficult than it needed to be, though I am thankful for the outcome.

Based on other reviews, I am clearly not the only customer who has experienced confusion regarding the subscription and renewal charges.

Proceed with caution.

Pas seulement 1 EUR: plutôt 40 EUR par mois... 480 EUR par an!

Comme souligné sur d’autres avis, le site Rileo semble fonctionner essentiellement sur la base de clients qui payent 1€ ou 1,50€ par carte bancaire (écrit en GRAS et GROS partout sur le site) pour accéder à un premier -et souvent unique- fichier d’essai… et se retrouvent sept jours plus tard prélevés de 40€ d’abonnement mensuel avec renouvellement automatique (écrit en tout petits caractères sur deux des nombreuses pages à valider).
Et pour des prestations d’un montant annuel exorbitant de… 480€, qu’est-ce qu’on a ? Pas d’envoi par mail d’une facture, d’informations en toutes lettres sur les conditions générales de vente, pas d’avertissement sur les futurs prélèvements… Sur le site (domicilié à Dubai), l’espace client est minimaliste : pas d’accès à notre compte, nos coordonnées, nos abonnements, etc. Le site ne connaît d’ailleurs de ses clients (et ne s’intéresse manifestement) qu’à deux choses : leur adresse courriel (parce que TOUS les échanges se font exclusivement par mail)… et leur numéro de carte bleue.
Une très mauvaise expérience, qui en rappelle d’autres encore pires (mais c'était il y a vingt ou trente ans).
