Afshan was really helpful during the sale of our property. The quick turnaround of emails, statements etc was much appreciated close to our completion date. Having a phone number to call where you could get through to a person relatively quickly was also useful and better than the conveyancing factory we used when buying the property. This was all with a price around half our estate agents preferred solicitor wanted to charge.

We were selling and buying. The amazing and lovely Henna took over our case, and we never looked back. I retained Stirling Ackroyd Legal for a purchase that didn't go through and have since retained another firm for the next purchase. The difference is night and day. SAL were cheaper (500£+VAT) compared to 1200£+VAT for the new one (a local solicitor in Kensington) but SAL are still very poor value for money:
- The response time is at best one week (when harassing them over the phone) where the new one is around 1 to 2 hours. And answers actually make sense and are not full of typos.
- The message from SAL is that they can't care to advise on anything legal, because it's not their job, their job is just the sale. Obviously the new one is actually concerned about the legal position of the leaseholder.

The good bit is that because they didn't do their job, I now have learned about anything there is to learn about leaseholds. The bad is that I lost a lot of time and energy.
And the really, really, bad bit is the constant threat to withdraw from the case if I didn't tell my case handler I thought he was doing a good job (which he obviously wasn't). To which I could only answer that I didn't have reasons to doubt he was competent as I had not so far observed any work emanating from him. This went in my opinion beyond bog standard unprofessionalism.

Don't lose your time, just go to a proper firm, which hires knowledgeable staff (after my weeks of learning, I think I know more than them) and who do such basic things as informing you when they have or have not received documents.
And if you've made a mistake and hired them, and you think anything can improve by requesting a new solicitor as I did, just don't, change firm.

Absolutely terrible firm. They changed solicitors on us and didnt let us know. Then on the day of the exchange they halted ALL proceedings for more paperwork that took a week to get for them. The Manager in charge of the conveyancing team Mr Peter Benjamin constantly makes up stories and excuses for his team and finds his team NEVER IN THE WRONG. Wew had to constantly chase them for updates, and they were either fielding calls, out to lunch or in hospital. It was a painstaking 4 months we endured with them and i urge you all to please be hesitant if you ask them to do work for you. Shop about.
I wrote to the CEO Mr Emon Ahmed twice,regarding my complaints but he also failed to reply, even with a respectful "I'll look into it"
Pathetic and hopeless and we will never recommend this company to anyone.
Please be careful with whom you choose to do be your conveyancing solicitors as this company is dreadful

My Case was initially managed by Bola Kim and was then taken over by Aidan Dike-Lawlor. I was happy with how Bola started the process. The moment I was introduced by Bola to Aidan, I instantly felt at ease - he guided us through a difficult purchase and regularly kept us informed. It was a difficult purchase and Aidan liased and negotiated with all parties involved. Every time I picked up the phone I knew the conversation would finish with a plan of action and we were blown away by Aidan’s calmness no matter how tough the purchase became. I enjoyed speaking to Aidan and his academic prowess is clear, he even taught me the meaning of the words cantankerous, imbroglio and quioxitic and my favourite Aplomb - a word I think that is very fitting to him!
