There was a lot of support from the teaching slides and your assessor. I would have found it helpful if they sent out books as well as online. Also it was predicted to take a year however, it took me around 20 months to complete as there is a lot of work to fit in around working and having a young family. Overall I was happy with the experience and will use them again to complete further training in the future!

Absolutely brilliant course provider. I needed to get a particular course done quickly to enable me to apply for my teacher training. From start to finish communication was great, set up was easy, and my assessments were marked within a couple of days.
Highly recommend!!

I recently completed a L4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant course. The assignments tasks were very vague. My assignments were returned to me frequently for amendments and took 2 weeks to mark. The example answers weren't helpful, as you could put as much detail as the example answers and still fail that assignment.

For anyone wanting to do this course:
- Put as many of the assignments criteria on one reflection sheet as possible (if appropriate).
- Ensure your mentor/tutor/line mananger is regularly checking your work and signing.
- Don't rely on using example answers to help you.
- Ensure you use a lot of detail and concrete answers about your own practices (use specific times and dates).

Side note: I did require a 6 month extension for this course. As I underestimated how long my tasks would take to be marked. Also, my tutor was very judicious (and rightly so), about what was required. This should have been more explicit in the examples.

Well, from induction to end, the course remained very supportive, pre informed everything, guided very professionally. My favourite unit was communication and professional relationship with children and young people. My tutor gave me a lot of knowledge on this topic which helped me a lot in practical field. College is doing great work. Last but not least, I received certificate before the estimated date. I would definitely go through level 3. thanks!

I have just completed my HLTA course and would like to say how great UK Open College was in helping me do this.
There was always someone their to help if I needed it and the completing my assignments was made easy by all the advise I received at every stage.

Spent alot of time trawling the Internet to find a EY childcare diploma to add to my bachelor honours qualification in social sciences so i could be properly qualified as a nursery practitioner, their website was very clear and even though I dished out my own money 1400 pounds plus 100 for the extension not seeking funding through the nursery, it was worth it. Their material was fantastic and professionally printed and posted to me and everything was made clear. The chatline was amazingly helpful with advice about what i needed to do and the course itself, especially the activities was very interesting , relevant and practically doable to what daily routine at nursery everyday, the tutors were understanding, if a bit slow, to respond however Kerry Steele on the student helpline was available to answer my questions and queries when I got stuck and that was extremelyhelpful. I enjoyed the course and would recommend UK Open College to any one else wishing to pursue an online qualification.

I have just completed my Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning In Schools Certificate. My tutor was very helpful and was timely in answering my questions and queries. I enjoyed the course and would recommend UK Open College to any one else wishing to pursue an online qualification.

Great and easy to use platform, Emma was very helpful and responded in good time. I will be using this platform to go on to Level 2.

I have just completed my L3 early years educator. It was a lovely experience and I would definetely recommend UK Open College to anyone who would like to get this qualification. The system was easy to use, resources were also easily accessible, and, most important, my tutor Penny, was amazing, always supportive and fair. Thank you Penny and Open College!

Just completed L3 early years educator. Resources were easily accessible however I found it easier to just buy my course book for myself and therefore never got use from the lessons online. Quick replies from my tutor and two pieces of work marked per week. I am so grateful for my tutor penny’s help throughout this course.
Only concern I had was annual leave, my amazing tutor deserved all annual leave however for the price paying it would’ve been appreciated to have someone mark work in her absence, especially when trying to juggle the course and a full time job.
I would happy complete others courses through open college.

I had called this morning (01/08/2001) and was greeted by the friendly and very informative: Bill. When on the phone it felt as if my future interests were truly understood by him, while also working quickly through questions to ensure that I can begin my enrolment as soon as possible. I really appreciate the help from himself and feel more comfortable knowing that everything has been explained to me properly.

Just completed my L3 in early years childcare.

The system was easy to use and documents easily digested.
Much simpler to build the portfolio then a previous childcare qualification with a different company.

My tutor was always quick to respond and gave genuine and constructive feedback.
When I got it right I had good detailed
Positive commentary but also where there were gaps I had constructive supportive
Commentary helping me to strengthen my
Portfolio, not just a blunt rework.

It really helped me to deliver stronger
More detailed responses as I progressed.

Really happy with the whole package

My course did take a lot longer than expected, and I felt some of the details about the urgency of the deadlines could have been communicated more clearly, as I felt I was stressing unnecessarily. However my final tutor (Vivienne) was amazing. She was very supportive and made it easy for me to send work in, and she had a very good response time. Again, the constant change of tutor made me feel anxious and worried about finishing on time, but once I had Vivienne she was brilliant and answered all my questions and queries. Maybe if I'd had her from the start it wouldn't have been so stressful. Overall I am happy I have my qualification.

The course was very insightful, and I received invaluable feedback from Viv Wood who was my tutor throughout my studies. Thank you UK Open College for making my learning time enjoyable and convenient.

Second course I have completed and great support I was given although a change of tutor, I can honestly say this did not affect anything. Vivienne was a great support through out my course when she took over. I now just await my certificate which seems to take the longest hopefully be here soon.

I received great service when I initially enquired about the HLTA course. However once I signed up it went down hill.
My first tutor sat on a submission for a month. Then she left and the new tutor seemed to be on it. I handed my final assignment in at the beginning of August 2022. I gave the college the 12+ weeks waiting period before chasing up if I had passed or not. It took a few attempts but I finally got my certificate yesterday. Nearly a year after I handed in my final piece.
Not overly impressed with them.

I have really enjoyed studying with UK Open College. Someone is always on the other end of an email if I had any trouble or questions. Feedback is always well explained and helpful.
My tutor has been really helpful, always keeping me up to date with information and has given good advise when needed.
