I’ve just completed my Teaching Assistant course with UK Open College. Provided with excellent course material, good instruction, and my tutor always responded in a helpful manner to any queries I had along the way.

I completed a Level 3 Diploma on Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools in August this year. Deciding to do it with the UK open college was the best decision I made in doing so. Starting from enrolling for the course, receiving the course material on time to support from my tutor was excellent. Due to Covid I was unable to complete it during the given time period. When I contacted the college to get an extension they were very helpful and understanding. I have no hesitations recommending the college to anyone who is thinking of doing an online course.

I enjoyed doing my TA level 3 award with the UK Open College. My Tutor Gemma Chantler was very helpful and other staff I spoke to on the phone were welcoming and attentive. Great experience!

Great college to get a higher learning in teaching assistant. The teachers were always there to help and didn’t take long in getting back to you when you had finished an assignment.

I have completed my higher level teaching assistant course through uk open college. Would recommend and use again. Tutor always on hand to answer questions, prompt feedback. I know someone else who completed the same course through a different provider and it was not anywhere near as clearly set out .

Good college. Good value of money and good variety of courses offered. Very good feedback when you submit assignments especially if you have to redone any sections. Would recommend.

I decided to complete my Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification to enable me to progress with my career and decided to use UK Open College due to working full time and having a family. It was extremely easy to enrol on the course, the college provided all the relevant resources needed along with online access to the college. After initially being concerned about the process of submitting work and waiting for feedback which seemed to take a while, my tutor was changed and she was amazing. Turnaround time was much quicker and the support and feedback she gave was fantastic. I managed to complete the course well within the suggested time length and have received my certificate. I highly recommend this college especially if distance learning is a better option for you. Even the student support line are friendly and helpful and always available if you need help and advice.

Earlier this year I passed my Support Work in Schools Level 2 and my Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF) I found my experience with UK Open College very pleasant and helpful and after achieving my qualifications have got myself a position as a LSA in a local school which I am really enjoying. I can't recommend them enough, the customer service is brilliant!

I applied to complete my Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant back in November/ December last year (2020) and within 7 months, after moving schools half way through, I have completed it and now received my certificate to say I am fully qualified. Throughout my course the college have provided so much support and have been very helpful. Communication has been fantastic and this has definitely been the best decision I have made in a long time completing this course. I would definitely use UkOpenCollege again for other courses and can not wait to see what my future now holds because of the course they provided me with.

After completing level 3 award in supporting teaching and learning I then decided to complete level 3 diploma in specialist support for teaching and learning in schools. Throughout both courses I received fantastic communication and support. I went from being in a job that I dreaded going to everyday to a career that I absolutely love. If you are wanting to improve your knowledge or be a better you I would definitely choose UK Open College.

Signed up to do the HLTA RQF qualification after speaking to Bill. It was the best decision ive made in a long time. The course content was brilliant, relevant and really enjoyable. I wish i would have enrolled sooner. Customer service always helpful and friendly. Completing this qualification lead me to being offered my dream job as Nursery Lead. I wish UK open college did a further qualification because i would sign up today!! Will miss studying with these guys and cant thank Bill enough for initially convincing me to sign up!!

Emailed them, no reply. Emailed again, I got a reply saying a ticket had been made for my query. So I had to register on their website. Replied several times to the ticket as it didn't have a reply from them, also emailed again a few times. Never had any reply to my queries. I messaged them on fb. They replied saying how can they help? I gave them my ticket number and asked if they could bring up my queries. They never replied. About 6 weeks now since I tried to ask some queries about the course and literally not had one answer.

I suppose it's possible their course content and tutor communication might be much better than their customer service, but I definitely wouldn't risk it!!! Especially not for hundreds of pounds.

I did TQUK level 3 award in supporting teaching and learning in schools course during lockdown. I found the resources useful, I learned how the communication is really important with children, young people and adults. My tutor has been excellent, she gave me marking/feedback. Overall very good and got my qualification.

I did a level 4 Higher level teaching assistant course during lockdown. I found the resources useful, although sometimes felt the examples used not necessarily meeting the criteria. Online help was good and marking/feedback OK. Overall very good and got my qualification.

I did a TA level 2 course. It was nice an easy to be able to work from home at my own pace; however, it sometimes took ages to get an assignment marked - I got the impression that it was sometimes rejected (because of the format not the work etc) to give the marker more time.
At the start you are sent a folder which sets out what you need to do and forms to fill in etc, but I was then told to do things completely differently which was a little confusing and wasted time. When I queried this I was told it was because different markers preferred to work in different ways.
Overall I am glad I did the course at home rather than in a college, and this course seems more in-depth than one another TA at school was doing at a local college, it was just a bit frustrating that the initial (very detailed) instructions were incorrect.

I have just began a Teaching Assistant course and so far the help and support I have received form the college and my tutor have been excellent.

Recently completed Level 4 Certificate for HLTA. Would highly recommend. Great experience of distance learning with support whenever I needed from my tutor as well as a very user friendly online support desk.

I was disappointed with the course. The folder provided had typing errors, grammatical errors and repeated paragraphs despite the continuous emphasis on the importance of students' spelling and grammar.
The instructions were vague and the questions were ambiguous. It was specified that the assignments would be rejected if they contained more than 4000 words, however some contained 21 sections which left little room for detail. My assignments were often rejected with requests to provide further detail. When I rewrote them with twice the content, they were accepted. Why is there a restricted word count when lack of detail results in failure?
I thought the specimen answers on the website were helpful guidance, (despite often containing poor spelling) however, when I used them as a framework for my answers, my assignments were rejected with the comments that I had not answered the questions.
