I recently went on the China Delight…
I recently went on the China Delight tour, and overall, the tour was filled with lots of “delight”!
The hotels were good, and the transportation between cities was comfortable and well organised. The national tour guide, Louis, was excellent. He clearly loved his job and was very passionate about what he did. He delivered the entire tour with great enthusiasm and genuinely put his heart into it. His knowledge of China was phenomenal, and he was always willing to share interesting information and answer questions.
The main criticism I have is regarding the food. We had 16 breakfasts, 16 lunches and 16 dinners. The breakfasts were buffet-style and generally good. However, the 29 lunches and dinners were predominantly Chinese food, with many of the same dishes repeated throughout the tour. Dishes such as stir-fried cabbage, sweet and sour meat, plain egg omelette, green beans, broccoli and mushrooms appeared repeatedly, sometimes every day. After a while, the meals became quite repetitive.
I feel the dining experience could be greatly improved by offering more variety, including different regional Chinese dishes as we travelled through different parts of China, as well as perhaps a few Western options occasionally.
Overall, the itinerary was good, although there is room for improvement. The hotels and transportation were good, and Louis was an outstanding tour guide who really enhanced the experience.
Most importantly, China itself is an amazing country with so much to see and experience. It is definitely a must-visit destination, and I would recommend visiting China.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your China Delight tour.
We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour overall and that it lived up to its name, delivering plenty of "delight" along the way. It's wonderful to know that you were pleased with the hotels, transportation and itinerary, and that you found China to be such an amazing and rewarding destination.
Your comments about Louis are particularly appreciated. Our National Guides are at the heart of the Wendy Wu experience, and it's fantastic to hear that his passion, enthusiasm and extensive knowledge helped make your holiday so memorable. Delivering an engaging and insightful journey is exactly what we strive to achieve, and I know Louis will be absolutely delighted to receive your feedback.
Thank you also for your constructive comments regarding the dining experience. One of the hallmarks of our tours is the opportunity to sample authentic local cuisine, but I appreciate that over an extended tour the variety may not always have met your expectations. Your suggestion of incorporating a broader range of regional specialities, alongside occasional Western options, is valuable feedback and something we will share with our product team for consideration.
Thank you once again for travelling with Wendy Wu Tours and for providing such balanced feedback.
We're delighted that China left such a positive impression on you, and we hope to welcome you on another adventure in the future.

Wendy wu tours - exceptional, supportive, caring.
Wendy wu tours was so organised, supportive & caring with the accompaniment of an excellent national tour leader named George. He was compassionate with his information about China & encouraged everyone to support & encourage each other as a team throughout the whole tour. That bonding made it very special for me. During the 3rd day of the tour I had an acute appendicitis in which George & the Wendy Wu team immediately organised an ambulance to take me to one of the best English speaking hospitals in Beijing.I was operated on that same afternoon & was discharged 2 days later catching up with the ongoing tour in another city prior to embarking on a 4 night cruise down the Yangtze river.
George & the Wendy Wu team kept us informed & showed us great care and compassion throughout the whole journey.
I cannot thank George & the Wendy Wu team enough for their organisation, expertise, compassion & total support for their customers.

Our first time to China - fantastic experience brought to life by an amazing guide.
Our first time to China and Wendy Wu's Classic China tour delivered an excellent overview with some major world renowned sites and experiences. The tour was excellent value and did not cut corners on hotel or food standards.Accompanied by our Tour Guide Michael Zheng, we were privileged to have this superb lead - very experienced, knowledgeable and attentive - seriously if all Wendy Wu tour leaders are as professional as Michael, then they deserve the market to themselves.

Gems Of China in September 2026
All the sites visited were incredible
Great Wall, Terracotta army, Pandas, bullet trains, Yangtze River cruise, 3 Gorges and Dam, high mountains and Glass Bridge among many other sites
Booking process v good, the tour guide, Joe was excellent throughout
A couple of negatives as pensioners we probably did too much as the days were long and tiring I walked over 5 miles nearly everyday
As the days were long we generally went for the evening meal directly from the tour giving no chance to change for dinner and 2 Chinese meals a day was too much for me

We try to balance sightseeing, travel and authentic dining experiences, but I understand that after a full day of touring, having some time to relax and refresh before dinner would be welcomed by some guests.
We're pleased to hear that the many highlights of the tour made for such a memorable experience, and we appreciate you taking the time to share both the positives and areas for improvement.

A truly wonderful Tour
The itinerary schedule was a little too hectic with lttle time for any relaxation was at times a little challenging. However China being a huge country thats the only way you could cover the important and historical places given the tour was only over 15 days. Having said that our National escort Betty was superb in her job and always made things easy to navigate and made the whole tour enjoyable and fun.

A fantastic tour which incorporated all the sites I wanted to see in Turkey. The itinerary is full on and there is little free time. Wendy Wu look after you even when you were going home, you have guide that takes you right into the airport and takes you to the check-in desk for your flight home to England. This was very appreciated as Istanbul Airport was enormous. The activity level indicated in the brochure was accurate and all of our group kept up with the guide. It is a packed itinerary, but you get to see the country. A highly recommended company.

Super tour, wonderfully led by Chloe
China is a fascinating country and this was a great 3 week tour of its long history and amazing natural wonders.
Evidence of the rapid change and development that's been taking place over the past 40 years is everywhere.
The tour was excellently managed by our guide Chloe who was delightful, friendly and super efficient. Local guides came and gave us detailed local info of each place we visited.
People were open and friendly. China is a big place so there's a fair bit of travelling but it's worth it. Our group was a mix of people from a few countries (mainly UK though) and everyone was flexible, friendly and on time - we've been in group holidays when that hasn't been the case. Everyone got on really well.
There's so much to see and the scale of everything is immense. Loved it.

We did the Classic China Tour which is excellent and has a great itinerary. It’s very fast paced at the start but there were more relaxing days later in the tour. Our guide Chloe was fantastic. She was well organised and took time to ensure that we had everything we needed. It was the little things that she did like waiting at the best photo spot to make sure we didn’t miss it and then offering to take photos of us. She genuinely cares about her clients and this was evident throughout the trip. Having done quite a few tours with different companies we can say that she’s the best guide we’ve ever had!

Karen and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for making this such a memorable trip.
We’ve had a brilliant time experiencing the wonders of this amazing country. We arrived with a few preconceived ideas about what to expect, but many of those were soon put right as we discovered the real China — its incredible culture, history, food, and, most importantly, its people.
George has been an absolutely outstanding tour guide and teacher, helping us navigate our way through this vast and fascinating country. His knowledge, enthusiasm and patience have been fantastic, and he somehow managed to keep everything running seamlessly, even when things occasionally became a little hectic!
He always kept his cool and was never fazed by anything that was thrown at him. His passion for sharing his knowledge and making sure everyone was looked after really made a difference to our experience.
It was particularly sad that George had to leave us before the end of the tour because of the unfortunate accident involving his mother. We’re sure everyone will join us in wishing her a speedy recovery and sending our very best wishes to George and his family.
We also had a few casualties along the way with some of the group falling ill, which unfortunately put a little bit of a dampener on the final part of the trip. Hopefully everyone is now feeling much better and will soon be back to full health.
Despite those few bumps along the way, we’ll look back on this trip with some fantastic memories, plenty of stories to tell, and a much greater appreciation of this incredible country.
Thank you all for being part of it and helping make our China adventure such a memorable one.
