The site is well managed and seems to remove many of the middle aged men just looking for a date. This site is a genuine penpal club - they specialise in Snail mail and have decent moderators to ensure it remains a friendship only site. I use the site in phases and currently in a penpal finding phase.. then i will leave the site and return if/when i need more penpals.

Initially I gave 2stars because I had a penpal from it. Now I have changed to 1 but I would rate them zero. I had a profile on there for years with a good description. Then they decided that I 'needed to write a more detailed account on my profile, such as detailed account of my typical day or describe the type of person that I am'. They want this personal information - detailed account of a typical day - to be made available to people who will have your address?? Their message to me said, 'if the profile isn't detailed enough, it will be removed'.
No worries - I removed it.
Their reply to my review is absurd. These people are mentally unstable lunatics. I would like to report their site and the lunatic who keeps replying to reviews on here.

they are really desperate for money. they act like they are a purely free site but then make it next to impossible for you to contact anyone without paying for a membership. they should be more honest and not pretend to be a free penpal site

Waste of $35…they just give you a list of people that they match you with but you can’t even see any face picture of them or even their ages…I only got matched with 10 people so I literally wrote a letter to every each person and I never got any response back and if I want to get another list of addresses I’d have to pay another $35 which you only have 2 options to send it either by PayPal or by wiring 😑😑😑😑

Very safe site, thanks to their discreet but present supervision... you can find all type of people from all over the world, and you don't even need to pay to have a satisfactor experience... I've been on board for years, by now...the best one for me, also for the graphic standpoint!

The people I wanted to contact all happen to be in the 20% that I can only contact for a fee. These 20% are randomly chosen. Pardon? What is the point of only being able to be contacted by paying members, or only being able to contact someone as a paying member? This does not make the whole thing any safer or better. And it's normal profiles that I can't contact (e.g. stay-at-home mom with two small children, interested in literature and sports or retired teacher interested in history) When I signed up, I was immediately contacted by several "single men". Even if I can contact someone, it's not that easy: contact credits are allocated. Then I can contact 1 profile. More is not allowed. Also, I can't see how long someone has been on Global Penfriends. That would be important, because if someone has a profile for years, he or she is unlikely to look for many penpals.

The owners of this website read your messages, absolutely no data protection here.

The 20% "randomly" chosen people that you are not allowed to contact is such a scam.
I bookmarked some people that I wanted to contact in future, and guess what- they are all now in these "randomly chosen" 20%, although before I was able to message them.

The user interface is very old fashion, when you searching for profiles the choice are lacking, so you get a lot of profiles that are our of your search area.
Unfortunately, I do not think people take it seriously when writing together. Have several times experienced profiles say yes to writing and then you do not hear from them again. I use the free part, maybe that's why.

Décevant. Semble être plus un site de rencontres amoureuses que de recherches de contacts à l'étranger (malgré son nom). Aucunes réponses aux messages envoyés car beaucoup trop de profils inactifs depuis des mois; les messages qui leurs sont destinés ne sont donc même pas lus (Faux profils ???).
Sinon, site assez bien fait et agréable; étant payant, on évite beaucoup de parasites qui ne cherchent que les arnaques.

Fairly new to it but does seem to do what it says on the packet. I look forward to making many new friends across the world without all the intrusive ads etc

I have been inside a lot due to Covid-19 and was very happy to stumble across this website globalpenfriends.com They have given me an opportunity to meet some fantastic international friends - I am greatful.

A friend put me onto this penpal club. I have to admit it that joining was one of the best things I have ever done. Club seems safe and helped me find penpals.. recommended!

The website is a pain in the butt to sign up for. The moderator nit-picks everything you write, demands rewrites for your profile and clearly is a sadist with too much time on his hands. STAY AWAY from this website and save your time from dealing with difficult people.

Tanti anni fa lo avevo usato per migliorare il mio inglese, ma ho avuto una brutta esperienza. In passato nessun utente con cui sono stato in contatto si è dimostrato interessato all'italiano e alla mia cultura/patria, anzi, alcuni mi hanno insultato con epiteti razzisti e, dopo averli segnalati, nulla è cambiato. Se provi a contattare qualcuno, poche persone ti rispondono, ed è anche difficile trovare persone interessate a scambi linguistici, ma con pazienza si trovano.
Aggiungo che i messaggi scritti agli altri utenti sono spiati: se fate domande troppo personali facendo nomi e cognomi il vostro profilo viene bloccato. Inoltre a molti profili non è consentito inviare messaggi, a meno che non si paghi una "piccola" somma, ma potete inviare un "virtual smile" nella speranza che l'altro utente risponda. Viene pubblicizzato come gratuito sulla rete, in realtà è quasi tutto a pagamento. Vedete voi se vale la pena di usarlo. Al momento si merita 3 stelle.

My experience on this web site has been extraordinary. I signed up with worry and caution, but thankfully it was quite the opposite. Within a day my profile was "approved". This meaning a REAL person looked over my account to make sure everything was appropriate and fixed to pen paling. Within a day after my profile being approved, I had a few people reach out to me. They are all polite and genuine. Its so great! Everyone is so real and nice. The pen pals I have met are better than friends I know in person! I really do trust them, and we set up ways to make sure we are who we say we are. I have received 2 letters and sent out 4. It has been an amazing experience and I will never stop using this secure, trustworthy, amazing website!!! ( PS yes Im a real user I'm not a robot. )

I usually don't review sites but I need to give something back to the internet community. I was seeking international friends to find information about various countries whilst planning an overseas trip. Little was I to know that the penpals and later friends I would meet would turn out to be be best friends in life. There is not a day that goes by where I am not thinking about how lucky I was to stumble across the Global Penfriends site. The site is fun, friendly and fantastic - if you are looking for international friendships - this is a great place to start!
