We purchased a car back in February - the customer service was horrendous! We agreed the purchase on the condition the car came with a fresh service and MOT and of course we were eager to pick it up. Once the payment had cleared we constantly had to chase them to agree a date to pick the car up and kept being told the cars not ready sorry the guy Is new he shouldn’t of said this or said that ring back tomorrow so we would ring the next day to be told it’s his day off today we will call you to not receive a call this was going on for over 10 days. We eventually got told the car was in the body shop having paint work done it would be back the Monday morning of the following week so we agreed to collect it the Tuesday and rearranged work and arranged a lift as we live an hour away. When we got there to pick the car up we were told it had only come back that morning as it had failed it’s MOT and the car was up on the ramp and it needed to be polished could we wait. I explained I had to get home to pick the children up from school we had agreed a day and we told them the time we would get there and was told ‘you might have to go and come back another day’ when we were stood there with no way home. He then proceeded to tell us the valeters were in a huff because they had to move all the cars out to get ours out and continued to say you won’t have time to check the car over but once your home if anything is wrong with it just give us a call; I voiced my concerns over this stating I had read elsewhere they had a reputation for not being interested once people had left the forecourt in which his reply was to slate previous customers to us and tell us of things where the ‘customers had been the problem’ - I was very concerned as one of the calls he was relaying to us was actually me! Anyway the car eventually comes out and straight away I notice paint damage which sprung alarms as we were told it had been in the body shop having the paint work done. Once home we checked the car over and rung up with our concerns over all the issues with the paint work and an issue with the window not closing properly - they agreed to take the car back in for it to be resolved. This again took a long process back and to before a day was agreed, we were told the car would be picked up the Monday but a time couldn’t be given and as we had work we asked to take it down the Sunday and this was agreed. When we got there we were given a ‘courtesy car’ an experience I had never had previously and would never want again! We had two young children with us and the car we were given was horrendous! It was cold and wet and the car had no heating system and the condensation was awful! We were driving down the motorway and couldn’t see a thing cleaning windows with socks whilst trying to find our way, it was mouldy and smelt damp and we rang them to tell them and got told they didn’t know - this was a lie as there was a card in the door stating what it needed fixing! 4 days later we were told the car would be coming back to us but again a time couldn’t be given and we explained we were at a funeral that day and could we have plenty of notice - low and behold we got a call mid funeral to say he was 15 minutes away! Upon returning the car to us they hadn’t done all of the areas we had listed to be corrected nor had they sorted the window! I gave up with them at this point! The car had not had a service and in the previous 3 months it has had to have a full service, brakes and an ABS pump done which we were told was absolutely ruined! We have also been told it needs timing chain and belt doing which is another lot of money! On top of this they still have a key which they have told us they don’t have however is written on the paperwork they wrote - that there is 2 of! Avoid at all costs I wouldn’t want anyone to feel the way we do about the service received.

Avoid this business with NWTC. My experience with them was completely unacceptable.

I was new to Lancaster and deliberately chose to buy from a motor trader instead of Facebook Marketplace. I paid more because I believed I would receive a professional, honest and trustworthy service. Instead, I was left seriously disappointed and financially out of pocket.

Four months ago, I bought a car Vauxhalls Meriva (2011) from them for £1,700. They assured me that the V5C and the other necessary documents would be sent by post. The documents & extra keys never arrived.As I was unfamiliar with the UK vehicle-buying process, I trusted what I had been told and did not immediately realise the seriousness of the situation. further, They said they completed the Tax. But never been done and now its expiring within next 5days where I am unable to pay without any documents.

I also believe that important information about the vehicle was not disclosed to me when I bought it. Had I been given the full facts, I would not have gone ahead with the purchase.

When I returned to their premises to ask for help, I was not treated like a customer who had paid them £1,700. I felt intimidated, disrespected and humiliated. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, they told me to leave because my complaint was allegedly affecting their new business.

They behaved like a bad gangsters. Whole team.. Non of them were professional

I approached them politely and repeatedly asked for basic assistance. I only needed the previous keeper’s postcode so that I could complete a V62 application and try to resolve the missing-document problem. They refused to provide the necessary support.

Because of this situation, I ultimately had to scrap a car that had appeared to be in good condition for only £136, after using it for just four months. I lost more than £1,200, excluding the additional costs, stress and inconvenience caused.

In my experience, buying from this motor trader offered me no greater protection, professionalism or peace of mind than buying privately through Marketplace. I trusted a registered business and expected proper customer service, but I was left without the necessary documents, without meaningful assistance and with a major financial loss.

I am not posting anonymously. I stand by my account of what happened and can provide further information and evidence to anyone who genuinely wishes to understand my experience.

Think very carefully before handing over your money on North West Trade Center Lancaster.

Despite only coming in for a browse around some potential new car upgrades, the staff members were very friendly and attentive and helped me with any queries I had on the day.
