Costa Rica Expeditions did not disappoint! Elena Monge, our booking agent, did an excellent job of matching our itinerary with our priorities and budget. Her communication was quick and thorough, and she made sure to answer all of our questions when posed.

The itinerary itself was fantastic. We started in Tortoguera and moved onto La Fortuna over the course of a week. The trip was well paced, the transfers between destinations went very smoothly, and the activities booked at each local were really top-notch. I highly recommend this company for professional service and keen insight as to how to make the most of your time in Costa Rica!

I would never use this company again.

- Lost one whole day being booked in a location and hotel when it’s common knowledge the park is closed on Mondays.

- Requested hotel change with more than 24 hour notice, advised after oh it’s more than 24 hour notice with full penalty.

- Management didn’t have contact information (phone) to communicate requests?

Outrageous markups on rooms and transfers.

What then is the value of “services provided”?

I had spoken to an advisor to set up a 9 to 10 day tour a few weeks back for April 2021. I was suppose to get an inteniary about a week back. Tried to email and call several times for an update but no one is answering. I am wondering if the company is still in business.

I have a trip planned for the end of the June and the company is not responding with information about the status of my deposit and all. I think it is bad business during this time of Covid to not answer the phone and to be non communicative about trips that have been booked.

Our trip was outstanding - everything went just as expected. All the hotel accommodations were extremely nice and comfortable, our guides were very informative and interesting, and every pick-up was on time or early. All in all, the trip really couldn't have gone better.

Our second trip with Costa Rica Expeditions and it turned out to be as perfect as the first. After letting our host (Luis Pablo Cubero) know what our general interests were for the trip, we left the selection of accommodations (and areas that we should visit) up to him. We visited areas of the country that we had not seen previously, covering both beaches and highland settings All of his choices were excellent. We especially enjoyed our visits to the highlands (El Silencio Lodge) and the Copa Del Arbol Beach Resort in the far south.

Our Expeditions drivers were not just drivers, but wonderful teachers and guides. They were reliable, punctual, professional and very friendly.

But the best part of this whole vacation was the trust that we had in Costa Rica Expeditions. We knew that once they understood what we were looking for, they would arrange things accordingly. We only did a cursory review of the places they selected for us and so everything was a pleasant surprise when we arrived. This was part of what made the trip so special...and that would not have been possible without trusting Costa Rica Expeditions to look out for us.

We left Costa Rica just before the Corona Virus arrived there. Stay safe!

The vacation was wonderful. We picked a time with expected low rainfall which turned out to be a very sunny and dry experience. The temperature was perfect with very mild weather. But most of all the people were so friendly especially the drivers for our expeditions. I would highly recommend using Costa Rica Expeditions for an unforgettable vacation experience.

We got lucky and took our trip before the coronavirus. It was a wonderful, well planned trip with memories we will always cherish. Thank you Costa Rica Expeditions!

Our dream 30 Year Wedding Anniversary Trip was incredibly overwhelming to plan. Costa Rica Expeditions took over and knocked it out of the park. They listened, responded and made our trip perfect.

Costa Rica Expeditions is a fabulous company to work with. The staff was very responsive to our requests and preferences and they guided us to great accommodations and activities. The CRE drivers were timely, friendly, and careful. The communication about activities was very clear and reliable.

We stayed at the CRE Tortuga Lodge and were amazed at the attention to detail. It was evident that the lodge staff held the quality of the guests' experience as their top priority. The guides were exceptional and we were very pleased with the wildlife tours.

CRE arranged rental cars for us, booked intra-country flights, and made our logistics very easy. We made some changes to the proposed itinerary and activities and those changes were cheerfully accommodated. We had the itinerary and activities we desired while being confident that the guides were vetted and top notch.

We had no problems during our stay in Costa Rica, but were confident that had a problem had arisen, CRE would have our backs. Having seen from the COVID-19 disruptions how things can go very wrong very quickly with international travel, we would book with CRE again without question.

Costa Rica Expeditionsis company is located in San Juan Costa Rica; the staff are all born & bred there; they know their country well; passionate about showcasing their natural habitat, and yet preserving it for future generation to come is their priority.

It was a well planned eco tour; our travel agent was quite engaged in planning our trip; continued to refine our itinerary as we learnt things we were interested in but not necessarily capable; they customized everything to give us a once in a lifetime experience.

We hope to have an ‘oncore’ once Corona Pandemic is over & the economy & the tourism sector resume; all the best.

Costa Rica Expeditions packed a week with fun adventures, great nature experiences, and perfect accommodations. Zip lining, white water rafting, hanging bridges, kayaking in the jungle,
all combined with the unique environment of Costa rica, made a great experience for grandparents and grandsons. CRE took very good care of us from the moment we got off the plane until we departed a week later. Silencio del Campo and Tortuga Lodge were lodgings with a special tropical character - breakfast watching exotic birds, wonderful food (reasonably priced), and a chance to stay in a tropical setting with hot springs on site and howler monkeys in attendance. We only wish we could have stayed two weeks!

We started our trip with an overnight at the Gran Hotel Costa Rica in downtown San Jose - very nice accommodations and welcoming staff. From there to La Paloma Lodge on the southwest cost at Drake Bay - Osa Peninsula. Very pretty place and grounds and extremely helpful and courteous staff, one of the best places we have been in Costa. Wonderful snorkeling and birdwatching. Finally to the beautiful Trogon Lodge for a wonderful experience with nature there as well. It was featured on National Geographic Wild for their ability to find the Resplendent Quetzal. This was our third trip to Costa Rica and we have had great help planning all of them from Nadya Shaw @ CR Expeditions. She tailors everything from our excisions to our menus based on our dietary quirks if you will.
