Bullies on forum pushing people away. I see same miserable faces as 2 years ago whos purpose is to attack and argue with users.

Many users on app are dodgy , keeping food for themselves rather than distribute it to people. You cant report them anywhere.

One would ask, where are the principles or values of people who run this app and keep group bullies on their forums and as volunteers?

Reading other reviews its a common thing.

Your ads are mostly gambling, scam from china, and even adult erotic service ads.

I only took 1 star off as I have had dealings with a few dodgy , rude people on there requesting ( practically demanding ) the food and my address!

As a lone female I do not feel comfortable with pushy or dishonest men or demanding snappy women lol

So the 4 stars is for MOST people who have been lovely , turned up when said and followed my instructions and were polite

I am NOT a FWH as I do not drive - I just try new foods and make mistakes re buying in bulk to save money

I also like to declutter or get rid of food lurking in my freezer to make room for new food

I also give away household items

Most people are lovely like I said and the NEW VERY LOCAL INDEED FWH I have found recently ( who has become one recently ) is a DREAM!!

So very polite and pleasant and I do sometimes miss out but other times we have got a lovely few bits which come from Sainsbury's

I am a full time carer on benefits so it is such a treat to be GIFTED FOOD and Olio is a wonderful app and it really helps me out plus helps prevent food waste!

Olio is a great idea which works by giving people free food that supermarkets would send to landfill. I am lucky to have quite a few great volunteer Olio distributors in my area. I’ve also given away a few free items that are collected, so I feel am giving back to the community. In these tough times it feels good to share & avoid waste. It works really well in my area.

This is a fantastic app. I have used it to pick up good quality free food and I also have managed to declutter. The other person collects from you so no need to take it anywhere. It is good for recycling and cutting waste, saved £££.

Being heavily into recycling, I love the Ethos of this scheme, saving food from going to waste and sharing items that we no longer use with others.

We have a thriving area of food waste heroes and I feel together we are making a difference whether it be rescuing good food of collecting and redistributing food. I have learned so much from the olio community too.

Rubbish I listed free food and free bits nobody ever was interested,
Plus the food given away is always salad and bread that’s it.

I've used this app to both give away household items locally and also have appreciated receiving useful items destined for landfill which is a great idea.

However food waste is abused by Food Waste Heroes who brag about having multiple freezers full of ready meals, pastries, meat and fish.
This is why I only ever see out of date bread advertised as the best items are kept by the collectors.
This needs to be investigated as food distribution isn't going to the people intended.

I think it's great for reducing food waste and helping others.

This app is brilliant it helps reduce food waste and items that are good to be given away instead of being thrown away , you can request good quality food for free on a daily basis, it's given me the opportunity to be a volunteer were I can collect food from shops for free and offer to the community, I feel as I good in myself for doing good for people and the environment,

There’s an app where you can give and receive free food and non food items. You can also sell or buy food and non food items. You can also, and this is a fantastic idea, lend or borrow items for a set period!
It’s all about reducing waste and that’s brilliant!

The fact that you have to watch a video before requesting spoils what is a good app. I won't be using it again.

Great way of giving away items that you can't sell, but you know could have another life, rather than going on landfill.
Fantastic way to reduce food waste too! I love having some nice bread rolls now and then.

A great way to help people in your community.

Alot of the people gifting items are unreliable and others are just trying to get rid of tat that should go to the skip.

Olio has helped me connect with my neighbours while saving and sharing food that would otherwise go to waste. I’d encourage anyone to sign up — it’s incredibly easy to use, and you can list all sorts of items. There are free items like food, books, and household bits, as well as paid items such as clothes, toys, gaming devices, and much more.

The “Save Me” collections allow you to keep as much as you like, while the other collections let you share with your neighbours. A lot of items that expire on the same day can even be frozen to last longer, which makes the collections even more valuable.

Many local supermarkets and schools offer a great range of collection times, from daytime slots to evenings, weekdays or weekends, so there’s always something that suits your schedule. It really is an app designed for everyone.

On top of that, you can share local events, post recipes, and get involved in the community in a really positive way. Highly recommended.
