Rias are Cowboys they won’t pay
Rias gave me a claim number after arguing about a storm which was one the worst storms we’ve had for 10 years then in the end closed the claim without explanation or contacting me
Meanwhile I’d had the repair done and sent them the invoice. They don’t pay up and don’t give you a straight answer.
Luckily I managed to get the price down
from an original quote of £900 to £250 with a different supplier.
I was trying to save Rias money and they didn’t pay anyway.
What a bunch of muppets I’m closing my account and will go back to the Halifax
Rias are cowboys
Worst customer service I have…
Worst customer service I have experienced. Would not even give one star if I had the option. Waited 5 hours on live chat only to be disconnected, this was after I had held on the phone for god knows how long. Sent 5 emails as I only wanted a question answered, the only reply I received told me I had to call them. Would not recommend this company to anyone, buy your insurance elsewhere.
Can't contact anyone
Took out travel insurance and I need to amend something. Told I had to ring -been on the phone for 45 minutes and no-one answered. Not filling me with any confidence if I need to make a claim. Been on the online chat for 20 mins and no-one has replied.
Update: Someone rang me this afternoon after i raised a complaint.
Terrible customer service
Can't contact them to amend my home insurance policy, says on its website that you can do it online, then when you try its a case of "computer says no" please phone us. I phone them up and after going through four options, the service says we can't connect you please try again later. Abysmal.
What an absolute shower
What an absolute shower. We had a drain burst and sat on the so called emergency phone line for over an hour, whilst the drain pumped out all over our drive. I got Dino-Rod out “first class service and they came at 11pm at night” I am now awaiting an ‘email form’ how old fashioned is that.. from Rias, for over 9 hours now, to claim the cost back. Still no email received. Rias if you read these please step up your game and keep your promises
Insurance gone up 33% this year
Insurance gone up 33% this year. My parents have been with this company for years. My elderly and recently widowed mother can't afford the new quote. I rang up on her behalf and they said no discounts were available. I found a better policy with the AA for £100 cheaper. The moral is if you don't look after your long standing loyal customers they will leave.
Profiteering or just theft?
Profiteering or just theft?
Having been with RIAS for many many years I find that this year their parent company, Ageas, are gouging more profits from loyal customers than ever before.
My house insurance has gone up by 300% from £287 to £839! When I challenged the quote they, unashamedly, say it is correct and is competative, but refuse to document any valid reasoning for such a rise.
They obviously fail to understand what the word loyalty means.... goodbye and let's watch their share prices and company profit drop through the floor when others realise they are just part of a profiteering scam!
I have been with Rias home insurance…
I have been with Rias home insurance for almost 10 years never claimed before until we had storm Babet which damaged some part of my roof and when I claimed I was refused because according to their source we did not have winds that reach 55mph or rain that fell over 25ml in an hour. and the documents they sent out were changed from original. At moment I am left with damaged roof and waiting for Ombudsman to take this further. This company has caused me nothing but stress I would never recommend it... KEEEEEP AWAY from such rip off company
Buyer beware! You’ll get less than 50% back of your remaining months if you cancel
Had a travel insurance with Rias for worldwide, +cruise ,annual policy for me and my husband. After 3 months due to personal circumstances I phoned to cancel. It was stated in the t and c that a proportion of the balance would be refunded. This turned out to be 48%! of the remaining months. For me it was o ly 8 months, not 9, cos I phoned on the 3 rd of the month which didn’t surprise me in the least but Who on earth would think it would be less than50% for the remaining months ? Despite complaining that it ts not stated anywhere in their literature ( because its a calculation only known to them) their wording is misleading my complaint hasn’t been upheld. Ombudsman next. Buyer beware!!!!
Had Rias car insurance for years and…
Had Rias car insurance for years and can't get a better quote. I had to have my windscreen replaced recently and had problems and still am with Autoglass their chosen company. however, rias have been excellent in trying to sort this out they even had my car collected and when it was finally repaired told me to get a taxi to collect it and send the receipt to them, what more could you want, This is not Rias' fault but Autoglass's who if I had my choice I would never use Autoglass as they want about two weeks just to replace a windscreen. It's now 5 days and I have heard nothing from Autoglass
Have been with them for a few years but…
Have been with them for a few years but this time my home insurance has gone up by 100% no claims made. When I rang to ask why was given war in Ukraine etc etc. And they have the cheek to charge £20 for renewing. Anyway have cancelled. Went onto money expert website and have saved £150. With Tesco of all people. But the cover is what I want. From what I read in these reviews I am not the only one to have these increases. If they keep this up they will go bust.
Was with Rias Home insurance for…
Was with Rias Home insurance for several years until they hiked up my premium so left. Went back to them this year because the quote and cover was excellent. Just had my renewal notice for next year and they've increased my premium by 47%. £80
Rediculous increase (No claims made).
Will find someone else for 2023/24
If I had known I would not have gone to RIAS
Left hand didn’t know What right hand is doing and the outcome is the customer loses out!! My thermostat stopped working so thought would ask them to come out as paid extra to be covered for such emergencies. The home insurance depot agreed I was covered but when transferred to the home emergency Homecare they subcontract to they said I wasn’t!! I was left on hold up to 30 minutes about 6 times before I gave up as lost will to live!! After a WHOLE afternoon wasted trying to resolve, a friend managed to fix it for me however RIAS could have cared less all they could do was say sorry which didn’t help at all!! Wasted premium in my view but worse was noone took responsibility to sort out instead they opted for cowards way out and just left me on hold until I gave up! This is how they treat someone they have apparently priorities due to disability so lord help so called able bodied people!!
It’s a good job my insurance is renewed in two weeks as I won’t be staying with them - the customer service is less than dire🤬
30/10 UPDATE NB Got personal email apologising and then telling me not their problem approach axa ! I will NOT this product was sold under RIAS and I am sure legally therefore they are responsible. Not that I am expecting a response on here doubt they Even bother monitoring reviews!
Not impressed upped prices too high no explanation not willing g to discuss it
Was always happy with this company not any more upped my insurence by a lot over £900 no reason called up no reason looked into it couldn't see a reason ! Joke
When is a storm not a storm…..
We had a very bad storm on the night of 20th/21st Oct resulting in roof damage. Apparently the relevant weather station data said it didn’t meet the Rias definition of a storm - probably because we’re in a York postcode but are in the rural East Riding and actually the weather was more akin to the east coast (pretty bad). The fact remains that we suffered storm damage but they deem that we didn’t. The phone operator didn’t even bother to try to establish rapport, it was simply a matter of “the computer says no” (though I get that the operators have no say in referring matters on and probably get sick of having to talk to disappointed customers). To say that we’re very unimpressed would be an understatement.
Vote with your feet People
I have held my home and contents insurance with this company for years - and for many more years with Castle, before RIAS took them over. I have never made a claim. My premium has always been around the £100 mark. In fact last year it actually dropped to £91-26 (a real first for any insurance company)!
This years premium = £213-64!
I called them to say this must be an error - surely no insurance premium goes up by 115% in a year!?
The representative could only add "It must be correct!"
So, a clear message to all - if this is how loyalty is rewarded - thank goodness for healthy competition!
Unsatisfactory
Hello again,
I had a reply from Trust Pilot about my complaint regarding the time on hold on the phone and to get help via chat. I do not know how to respond, so am writing further information.
The reply was only an explanation, and of no help.
I admit to being nearer 80 than 70 and not as "au fait" with modern technology as others and I am uncomfortable about posting this to jolt this company into action without being on the phone again all day.
I did eventually get through to an agent on the phone who told me that, although he could see my account, for some reason it was not responding to my log in attempts and this would be passed to the IT team to sort out. I have checked if this has been done but am still unable to log in and progress my claim via the web because my password is still not being recognised yet the assistant assured me that all was well with my account details!
He directed me to AXA and I found the assistant helpful. I will not mention names. She too found my account and told me which documents I would need to get, and also gave me a claims number. She said that she would forward me the form which my GP must sign.
I discussed with her how I would send her copies of my invoices etc ( I am talking about a very small claim for a four day break in the C.I) because she told me that the computers were not receiving invoices and paperwork which clients were sending in on line!! I was given an address where I could send paper copies to but cautioned that they would not be actioned as soon as others which were sent via the web...should they arrive!
This conversation took place last Thursday morning. I anticipated that, with the click of a switch, I would be sent the paperwork which I needed to complete, but am still awaiting same.
I am on the point of not even bothering to continue with my claim because the effort involved, time taken is taking its toll on me.
The service is very bad and I am glad that I am not making a big claim from a far flung corner of the world.
Will someone out there please make contact via my e mail.
Thank you in anticipation.
be very careful when buying travel…
be very careful when buying travel insurance from RIAS via price comparison site they state 45 days max days but this is age related and is only referred in the terms and conditions.
In reality it is a lot less if you are over 65.
there are a lot better deals out there !
absolutely disgusting!!
absolutely disgusting!!! I uploaded my no claims discount and they are charging me a further 200 pounds and wont let me cancel and get a refund even though the policy doesnt start for 4 days!!!! They are con artists DO NOT USE THEM
Take care on renewal, take the time to Shop Around
I received a notification that my home contents insurance was due - this arrived by post, despite them having my email address - I was out of the country at the time and when I returned they had already taken the full payment via Direct Debit.
The premium had been increased by 50% despite no claims ever having been made. I checked on a comparison website to find out that it was possible to get similar insurance for much less, so contacted RIAS who refunded the premium.
I then went through my other Insurance Broker who found me a premium via AVIVA that improved the cover for 30% of the renewal cost quoted by RIAS.
Shop around!!
