RIAS 

A slate was dislodged in the high winds recently ,so i claimed on my house ins but was told that they would not pay out for repairs as the wind was not strong enough! I felt let down when i needed to claim they were not responsive.
I cancelled my policy with RIAS , now they are chasing me for the £60 outstanding monthly payments. I cant afford to pay this as it just cost me £220 to repair roof. BEWARE THE SMALL PRINT AND THE WIND SPEED!!

Cancelling Cost or, shall I say, robbery.

£50 cancellation fee and to add to this £20 setup fee. Agent response:

The non-refundable set up fee, is applicable at any point of a policy being cancelled,£50 cancellation fee applies as you are past the 14 days of the policy incepting.

The set up fee £20 reflects the overall costs we incur as part of providing a policy, as such, its a non-refundable fee and is outlined in the terms of business agreement document.

A word of warning to anyone thinking of taking out home insurance with Rias. Please look elsewhere. Terrible company to deal with.

Prompted by an advertising email by RIAS Home Insurance, I completed an online application for home & contents insurance which is due for renewal with another company in a few days. After spending 15-20 minutes completing the online form, RIAS replied that although I had supplied all the required information, they cannot offer me a quote. No reason given! I now remember a similar happening last year: that time RIAS said they could not offer me home & contents insurance because they already had too many customers in my geographical area! What a waste of my time. I have no problem obtaining insurance from other sources, so why does RIAS keep sending me advertising emails then keep turning me down for no understandable reason?

I used them for 3 years. I then sold my car as I no longer needed it, the insurance was £16 per month, it had 3 months left until renewal.

I was told I had to pay a fee of £50 just to cancel it!!

Fuming is an understatement, £50 to do what exactly?!? I should have just left it run and save £4

DAY LIGHT ROBBERY, buyer beware!!!

I looked at the wrong bit of Trustpilot, not the travel insurance and it looked good. They have taken my money but I am unable to log on to get documents. Phoned a contact number which takes you to Axa parent company who have no knowledge of the reference number. I emailed and the email didn't get there, ie sent back. So no way to contact, no way to cancel and no insurance document. A nightmare...
updated this morning...spoke to helpful person who has sorted it, same phone number as yesterday, not redirected this time?!

Overpriced premiums, no flexibility. Poor customer service.

Waited 8 days for any contact and then when contacted by their garage was given a collection date of another 6 weeks and was told courtesy car would only be provided when car was picked up.This would mean being without a car for 7 weeks .A JOKE .After stating this ,I was given a new date of 3 weeks,so 4 in total still with no car and 2 kids on holidays

Asking for 45% increase in renewal premium for buildings and contents insurance at the end of year 1. Never claimed on a policy in 45 years of house ownership. Classic example of insurance companies luring in the punter, and then hoping they won't leave when the premium is wacked up in subsequent years. Not in my case. Policy cancelled.

I wanted to add another car to my insurance ,after two hours of endless pontificating on the phone and fining me for some minor discrepancy on my existing insurance they flat ly refused to add another vehicle with no explanation that I can understand, I get the impression that their business model is to find any slight discrepancy as a money making opportunity.

Just had our house insurance renewed and it has gone up 117% on last year's cost. We were away on holiday when this happened and did not notice the large increase before it was actioned. Our fault, but how they can justify such an increase over last year without any claims against our policy in mind-blowing. We will be removing our business from RIAS in due course despite being a customer for many many years. Truely awful treatment by the company - be warned.

Had a burst water pipe on 22nd Dec 2022. Contacted them for an Emergency Plumber. They actually made matters worse!! Luckily I had a back-up plumber lined up who was great; just as well as these clowns would have seen me spend 10 days over Xmas with no water supply. They are impossible to contact, every phone call is put on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes, then you find you've been transferred to a different company ... AXA. 3 weeks on, and I cannot get them to even give me advice on how to proceed with my claim, let alone get resolution. A truly dreadful company ... do not be a customer.

horrible take heed of all the other reviews. I wasted my money on nothing this year. They don't want to come out to anything but will happily take your money. I been on the phone for 1hr and the hold music is giving me a massive headache. How do these awful rogue companies get away with this? its not fair this government should stop them operating.

Had Insurance with Rias, had a burst pipe just before Christmas, they did their show us the damage via your phone. They saw water running out of the walls. They noted there wasn’t a lot of furniture ( my husband has been staying up there and clearing his mums old stuff). They then tried to claim he doesn’t spend enough time in the house. ( even though he was there when it burst and fixed it himself because he could get a plumber due to burst pipes everywhere increasing demand) they them closed the claim no explanation. He then complained and they cancelled the policy. Next stop ombudsman.
Don’t use them at any cost. Takes about an hour to speak to someone just to be lied to and messed about.
If you have to make footage on your phone for your claim make a copy, because they won’t show you the footage they take via their system and if it’s ‘lost’ you have no back up

Thankfully I don't personally have insurance with this company because they couldn't wait to tell me that my recently deceased father's house was no longer covered. I've Tried on many occasions to contact this company by telephone but you wait for ages and offered very poor help. They're very good at sending negative letters !!

Absolutely ridiculous process sent two days waiting for these muppets who after hours waiting cancel the call. Extremely frustrating and would spent a cent with them

Had my car insured with these robbers!! Terrible customer service, and a total rip off. I cancelled my policy yet was still expected to pay another 2 months. Ok cancellation fees applied, but paying for a car I no longer possessed wax a joke. I've never ever claimed on my car insurance yet they saw fit to sting me. Never again rias you're a joke!!!

Please avoid any buildings / Home insurance with this company. They will not pay out.
We had a leak last November which was in the wall. The leak has been running down inside the dot and dab and under the tiled floor. The base units of kitchen were damaged (delaminating) and tiles were taken up to stop water migrating to living room. RIAS inspector came out spent 2 minutes (was more interested in my dog) he noted the damage to wall were I had accessed the leak and left. I then had a running battle with their claims people who asked for all sorts of reports and pictures which I provided together with report. I have been in building game for 40+ years and I am gas engineer. I also work for Housing Company so I am used to this sort of thing. However RIAS only wanted to pay for the wall to be plastered. I had already done this and told them if that was all it was the basis of my claim I wouldnt have bothered. I have replaced floor, kitchen units and decorated following this leak and to date have not received one penny. They have today sent me a letter saying they are sorry to be losing my business. Is this company for real. PLEASE PLEASE source your insurance elsewhere. The sooner this company goes out of business the better
