Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

‘Diagnostic Consultation’ is a benefit where BHSF require two extra pieces of information to assess a claim beyond the usual (e.g. the insured persons name/ the date of treatment etc.). This is why we outline exactly what is needed in our ‘Terms Of Use’ (TOU) on our Online Portal, so Policyholders can gather what they need before attempting to claim, to reduce any potential delays.

The two extra pieces of information, as stated in the TOU, are:
o The GMC number of the Consultant who conducted the consultation.
o A copy of the initial GP referral/ recommendation to the Consultant.

If you’re having any difficulty with this, or are unsure what is needed, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Helpdesk who would be happy to offer guidance/ assistance.

Good service

BHSF I have been with for many years, I have always found them to be helpful with any queries I have had. in particular on this occasion, Neil Ryder was very helpful in resolving a claim for me.

Payment was so fast!

Has been good, going downhill

I have always been a fan of the health cash plan - easy to use, customer service reps have been helpful and responsive and claims have been sorted quickly. It has been good value for money. However, my premium has just nearly doubled, while the amount I can claim has stayed the same. One of the perks has been the 'digital physiotherapy' service but after spending 20 minutes filling in a digital form, I was simply told that they couldn't help me. Clearly no-one had looked at what I was actually asking for, it's just a series of automatic answers.

Reliable help with treatment costs.

I've been with BHSF for many years. It's a very good and reliable insurance policy which helps towards essential treatments like dentistry and also covers homeopathy, osteopathy and other aspects of health care.

When comparing with Westfield BHSF is…

When comparing with Westfield BHSF is stricter on receipts and doesn't have 30 days window to submit. They go by the receipt date rather than by the submission date. NB. Westfield has 30 day window both ways, retrospectively as well as forward, i.e.30 after the treatment date, so your policy is inflexible in that matter to just go by the receipt date. Also, their submission isn't limited to their portal only as it is yours.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

The good news, is that BHSF doesn't have a 30 day window to submit claims, as we have a 26 week (6 month) timeframe instead! This gives Policyholders plenty of time to get their claims in to us. Also, using the date a claim is submitted would be unfair to Policyholders, as we appreciate that it isn't always possible to get claims submitted instantly. If we used the date of submission, Policyholders would lose out on using some of their benefits, especially towards the end of their cover period.

e.g. If a Policyholder had a £200 Dental check-up & hygienist visit on 23/04/26 with £150 remaining of their ‘Dental’ allowance, but their cover ended on 30/04/26, if they forgot to get their claim submitted before the cancellation, they would lose out. As we go by the date of treatment (for most benefits), a Policyholder can still get those final few claims in after their cover has ended (or a new year starts).

If you’re ever unsure on how your policy works, or what’s needed when submitting a claim, please either read the ‘Terms Of Use’ or T&Cs on your Online Portal login, or call/ email our Helpdesk who will be happy to help.

Overal very quick and efficient

Overal very quick and efficient. I have been a member since January 2008.
However. I upped my cover in February and you have to allow 13 weeks for the new payments to start . This seems fair, but it is very annoying you can't upload claims via the website in the meantime. You have to email with attachments, or send by post. Bit inconvenient if you don't have a printer.
