Do NOT rent from megadrice and from Rentalcars. Even though the car was prepaid, they put a charge of $ 900+ on my credit card, without any bill and explanation. I now have to go through my credit card company to put a hold on this charge, as they don't reply to my inquiries.
Do NOT use these two companies. Stick with the more reputable car rental companies as you will have ZERO support from them
This was for a car rental in Vienna for ten days at the end of August 2019.

MegaDrive/Hungary has taken out of my bank account £284.32 after I’ve dropped the car off and I was already in UK.

Why is that? I have paid for my car rental £107.13 on the 11th of September. Ryanair has taken that from my account.

Before I dropped the car off to the Budapest airport I have fully filled the petrol tank and MegaDrive person has checked the car and everything was ok for what she gave me to sign the drop of papers.

They literally force you to pay extra for a better car when picking up your rental as they offer you something like Dacia for the price you pay and if you want a decent car you lol have to pay xtra again.

I have never experience such a so called legal scam like these MegaDrive scammersin Budapest.
Well, I will pursue the case and ask for legal help as they can’t be taking peoples money just like that.

NEVER EVER RENT A CAR WITH MEGADRIVE OF GLOBAL
they charge you with damage which was already there.
for me they charge 577 euro of a scratch on the wheel and the corner
of the drivers door. dangers people ones you gif them your creditcard
1000 euro for deposit well....forget about it you will never have the full amount back!!! when you call them..you hear a voice that you know you can forget about it!! now i read the comment below it makes all sense and not only here tripadvisor is full with bad comments!!

I would advise not to use this company.
We hired a car and returned it with no issues but once we returned back to the uk
We was sent an invoice for damage we had not caused.
I asked the company to provide proof of the damage along with a damage report but they just ignore your emails.
Stick to the bigger companies like hertz Europecar ect...
They may be slightly more expensive but you have the peace of mind that they are not going to steal your money and make false claims against you.

Dont attempt there cheap price, it is a trap. They charged me 800 euro on a 2 cm scrach. Unbelievable!!!

Avoid. They have a very bad service and charge dme twice.

Terrible, patronising staff. They treat you as if you were some kind of invalid person. Looked at the other reviews, similar sequence of events.
When I collected the car, there was no one handing it over to me; I was told to cross over, go left, then right down the ramp, the car would be somewhere over there. All I was told that there are couple of scratches on the car, but nothing major.
As i handed the car back, the man 'found a new scratch' on the bumper, claiming that was not there before - would love to upload the photo of it - and they valued it to €700. I've had a fully comp insurance, so no problem there, but the stupid question that I was greeted by the man who took the car back was: 'what did you drive into? ' - if I did drive into something there would be a dent. So unbelievably diabolical! We hire cars all the time when we're in Budapest, first time using megadrive. Never had any issues in the past 15 years. I would recommend Hertz or Aviva, or any of the top five car hire companies. Anyone but megadrive!

It looks like its a standard practice and thats how this company makes money. They charge you 1000 Eu for a hairline scratch or make one up themselves.

Ich bin Stammkunde bei Rentalcars.com und ich habe ein Auto über Rentalcars.com für ca. 17 Stunden gemietet. Das Auto habe ich in Flughafen Wien abgeholt. Dieses Mal war der Vermieter Firma Buchbinder/Interglobal/Megadrive. ich habe das Auto zurück gebracht und paar Tage später sehe ich, dass Megadrive über 81 Euro abgebucht hat, keine Ahnung wieso???
Hin und Her anrufen und am Schluss: angeblich habe ich der Felge-Beifahrerseite leicht beschädigt. Es stimmt nicht

This company is a fraud.
I suggest anyone not to book with Megadrive or Buchbinder.
I booked through Rental car and when I got to Salzburg I got told that I can not have the car I wanted cause I am 2 hours late and have to pay an extra Euro 20 per day cause they only can give me a bigger car. They actually did not have a the requested car and used my late arrival as an excuse.
Do not book with them or Rental cars

I have booked a car rental in Economy bookings´s website, on the 21st of February, for my holidays in Austria. The pick up was in Vienna center, on the 25th of February, and the drop-off in Vienna Airport on the 1st of March.

When I booked the car in this website, the car rental company was Inter Rent. When I got to their office in Vienna, for my surprise, I have checked that Buchbinder and Mega drive companies were the main rental cars companies working there. There was no Inter Rent... And I knew the bad reputation these companies had.

They gave me a Slovakian (?) car in good conditions as well as the map with the car condition. There were two spots signed there and I have checked the rest of the car and there was no more dents or scratches.

As agreed, I dropped the car in Vienna airport, checked that the car was in the same conditions as when I picked it up and left the keys on buchbinder's box.

I couldn't believe when, after 13 days (??), this company contacted me alleging that my car was damaged.

After this, I had in my email one invoice in the amout of € 878,00, for damage repair, and one day after I had that debit on my account.

I did not authorize and do not agree with the payment of € 878,00 value.

This is a fraud situation and I will take court action against this company.

The problem arose about two months after the car was returned.
They said that I had an unpaid parking ticket and with all added
charges it came to 111.81 EUR. I informed them that the ticket
was an error and the Parking Company was to have it cancelled.
The Parking Company in Budapest did eventually Void the ticket after
I was charged the money to my credit card. I sent this information to
Megadrive Autovermietung GmbH.
Even after I put in an appeal and got no answer back from the appeal, Magadrive
decided that the case is closed and I am out of my money due to no fault of my own.
Part of the charges is Magadrive’s 25,40 EUR handling fee. It’s no wonder that
They are not interested in refunding my money.
So much for being a Valued Customer? They lost my business, my daughter and husbands,
Plus two of their friends!

сняли 50 евро при аренде (якобы депозит за топливо) сказали, что эти средства при возврате с полным баком возвращают.
Авто вернул полным баком, а они сняли 66 евро!!! и Rentalcars ничего не смог добиться.

Megadrive at Salzburg AIRPORT share a desk with Buchbinder, Global and Interrent. I have been using these companies for several years and always got exactly what I reserved, no hassle, no unfair attempts to take your money. The service here is always quick and friendly, the cars are of low age, clean and technically OK. Winter tyres and usually a motorway toll badge for no extra cost. Just a few minutes' walk from luggage caroussel to rental desk to car park. What else do you need?

I read the reviews and was a bit wary but the service at Salzburg airport was superb. The car was brand new with sat nav etc as standard. On our return they checked the car over with me and my deposit was refunded. Good price great experience will use again.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!! I am in Austria and I rented a car for 4 days! After 1 day day of having the car in Vienna I found that it was not needed because parking in Vienna cost around 35 Euro a day! So I took the car back to the airport! Upon returning the car to the airport they did a very extensive search on the car looking for any damage. They found a scratch that was barely noticeable and filed a claim of 700 Euro! The guy at the front desk when I rented it told me the car was perfect and did not need to be inspected. Don’t listen to him! Go look over the car very throughly!! If it even has a smudge of diet on it make them clean it!! This company is theives!! Apparently this is the way they make money! So rent anywhere else even if the price is higher you will thank your pocketbook later! You will be charged for damage that was already on the car because you were lied to from the beginning!

I made a booking with Megadrive via RentalCars.com at Christmas and can't say I was impressed.

First up, their terms are extremely vague on what kinds of breakdown are included in the hire charge. Nothing is written down and when you ask for written terms of their so-called 'mobility product' they have nothing to show you. So, you are forced to play a game of throwing scenarios at their staff asking what would and would not incur a fee.

Second, even tho the car supplied was under 12 months old, the front and rear screen washers were not working. This wasn't a simple matter of filling up the reservoir because the motor itself made no sound when operated and when I attempted to add water to the reservoir, it backed-up very quickly, suggesting a blockage. At this time of year, when the roads are dirty, not to have a means to wash the windscreen on the go is a huge nuisance and, sometimes, a danger. Megadrive must have known the washer was faulty. Other hirers must have told them and if Megadrive had attempted to fill the reservoir, they would know there was a problem. The fact they didnt fix it tells me they don't care.

My booking came with a full-to-full fuel policy and, as I always do, was quite happy to fill up on the way to returning the car to the airport 7 days later. However, staff specifically directed my attention to a sign on the desk telling me that it was cheaper to return without a full tank and leave Megadrive to fill up. Their published rate was a few cents lower than the best petrol stations so how could one lose? But when my credit card bill turned up, they had suddenly charged me for a full tank at pre-pay prices even though I had returned the car only half empty. Pre-pay prices are, as everyone knows, significantly higher than at petrol stations and so why would I have opted for this product when I could save money? So what was the justification for not honouring the deal they told me about on collection? Quite frankly, I don't know, because they won't engage with me properly. I am reluctant to accuse them of operating a scam but I have to wonder whether the depots had an end of year incentive to maximise their income from add-ons and they thought they could get away with pretending that the promotion didn't exist. Fortunately, I took a photo!

Whatever the answer, I have uploaded a video on Youtube to warn potential customers who might decide that saving a few euros wasn't worth the hassle of trying to argue with a company that clearly doesn't care. Just search for "Megadrive Salzburg".

This company is simply a brand of Buchbinder. Buchbinder has very dubious business practices, as you can see in many reviews in this website. I had very similar (and very negative) experiences with two of the brands of this company, so I am warning people that they are all the same, so that they don't do the same mistake I did.

I HAVE BOOKED CAR FROM MEGADRIVE THROUGH RENTALCARS CARS ONLINE AND GAVE PAID £262 FOR 5DAYS. ON THE TOP OF THAT LATER I HAVE TO PAY TO ANOTHER CAR RENTALCARS COMPANY ( BUCHBINDER) ANOTHER £150 FOR SNOW CHAINS( I HAVE NEVER SAW THEM) AND FOR PICKING THE CAR FROM INSBRUCK AIRPORT. WHEN I HAVE COMPLAINED LATER THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE SIGNED AGREEMENT FOR THAT EXTRA COST. BUT THEY HAVE NEVER MENTIONED THAT WHEN I WAS TAKING THE CAR KEYS AND PAPERS FOR THE CAR. MOST LIKELY THAT I HAVE SIGNED SOMETHING WITH HIDDEN SMALL PRINT.

They are not professionals... I and my husband had to pay 2 times for the same car.....he had paid in advance through the website and then they blocked my credit card and withdraw 370 Euros out of it!! This was yesterday and I called them but no change to get refund and they were really rude on the phone (I speak German like nativ) and now we are getting a lawyer in Austria to sue them.....This has never happened to us before and we travel a lot and NEVER rent a car from them!!
