Megadrive Flughafen Wien. Achtung Abzocker!
Das angeblich schadenfreie Auto hatte leider einen Lackschaden durch Steinschlag am Kotflügel. Also gleich zur Mietwagenrückgabe und den Schaden registrieren lassen. Ok, ärgerlicher Zeitverlust, aber was soll's.
Die böse Überraschung dann bei der Rückgabe am Abend. Kleiner Kratzer im Lack, direkt am Nummernschild. Unmöglich kann das ein Unfall o.ä. gewesen sein. Das kostet mich jetzt 878 Euro!!!!
Mein Tipp: Kein Auto von Megadrive mieten. Und falls doch: Auto vorher ganz genau, am besten mit Taschenlampe, anschauen.

We picked up a car in Budapest and dropped it off in Vienna, four days later. The car was comfortable and served our needs. That's where the easy part ended.

In the Budapest car park, we noticed a little damage that was not indicated on the rental Agreement paperwork. Fortunately, we took photos and asked a representative (in the car park) to update (and initial) our copy of the rental Agreement.

We dropped the car off early in the morning in Vienna. There was no representative in the car park and the MegaDrive office in the airport terminal was just opening. We gave our keys to them and were told that everything was set.

Three days later we received an invoice for over 1,400 euros to repair the damage to the car. After providing photos of the car and a copy of the rental Agreement with the notes from their agent in the car park, we then noticed charges on our credit card statement for a late return of the car and a cross-border fee.
When I reached back to MegaDrive, I was told that their records indicated that we returned the car at 15:54pm. We were home by then!

The cross-border fee, we are told, was (somewhere) in the rental Agreement -- we just needed to read all the details. Since we signed it, we acknowledged all Terms & Conditions. My mistake. I thought that the 250 euro fee for a one-way rental would have been more than enough. Can someone explain how MegaDrive needs to be reimbursed because I crossed a border with the vehicle?

Anyway, it is over three weeks and 17 emails later, and they acknowledged this morning that the damage was present before I picked up the car. But they need me to document that I dropped the car off when I said that I did. I have sent them copies of my travel documents, showing a morning flight. And we arrived a few hours before the flight. Hopefully it will be enough.

If you want an easy car rental experience, I do not recommend MegaDrive. If you rent from them, document everything. And read the Fine Print.

Worst car rental ever!

Worst car rental ever!! They lure you with the cheapest rental prices initially and then bill you excessively for any minor damages.

I personally had the experience in Wien Schechat Air port. When I got in my car I released the hand brake and there car was left in neutral. The car rolled 3 ft forward and this caused a minor paint damage.

The company billed me almost $1000 for the damage, issued me a repair cost for a different car initially and never refunded anything. Fortunately I used konsument.at to help me fighting them and I finally got 500 Euro back.

Totally unethical company. Avoid or assume the risk for being excessively charged for minor damages. See other reviewers with similar issues

Vorsicht: Halsabschneider! Erst ewig laufen, bis man Ihre Station findet, an der man völlig inkomplettes Personal antrifft, auf das man auch noch ewig warten muss. Aber es kommt noch schlimmer: Nach einem halben Jahr erhält man eine angebliche Mautstrafe, obwohl die Maut selbstverständlich bezahlt wurde. Nicht einmal ein Bußgeldbescheid wurde beigefügt. Unglaublich dreist! Der Gipfle der Frechheit: auf ca. 90 Euro vermeintliche Strafe werden dann noch 20 Euro Bearbeitungsgebühr und dann abermals Mehrwehrsteuer addiert, sodass man bei 135 Euro landet. Abzocke pur, weshalb der Ausdruck Halsabschneider mehr als angemessen ist. Also Fazit: Finger weg, nie wieder. Dummdreist ist noch freundlich ausgedrückt!

They charged us € 97 for cleaning the car and it was totally clean.In addition, they charge us a small fee for the oil deposit and we fill the deposit.

I had really low rental price for VW Passat couple weeks ago in my business trip. I returner car with no damages and we even checked car together with rental agent. Next week they are charging 846 € from company credit card. I called to the company and they said there has been reported new damage in front pumber. Rental agent lady didn't even mention of any damages when we checked car together. She propably has put mark for damage to the papers.

At their Budapest office they gave to us a car saying "no need to check it, it is new". FALSE! We checked and pointed out 3 large 10-15cm scratchs. The staff lady angrily marked one of them 2mm from the real position it really was, and when we returned the car they said the scratch was new and charged us for that. Claimed to the main office and no solution was given. I checked opinions about this office at Google, and it seems this is usual and they are professional robbers. Never again we will use this company!

These are the facts:
My flight was delayed and I arrived at the airport 6 hours later. I was told that if I don't show within 3 hours they can give the car to somebody else. Then they charged me late pickup charge, which doubled my original rental amount.

!!! THIS IS AT THE AIRPORT !!!

I have sent them an email suspecting that it was only a bad clerk at the front desk. I never received any answer.

Scam. Charged me almost 200 Euro when the whole rental was 240, for no good reason and without giving me any notice on why.
Car was returned exactly as it was received.

They are not able to answer to any question upfront rental; I was forced to cancel rental request. Unbelievable.

They were all smiles and helpful when we rented the car - and they pointed out an obvious dent and scratches around the car which was noted on the paperwork. We didn't notice any others.

I had taken out my own excess insurance policy so didn't use theirs. When we returned the car they pointed out a couple of long scratches in the paintwork at one side - they were so faint so as to be scarcely visible. The guy had to wipe it with a cloth to pick them out. I couldn't say if they had been there originally.

For this, the "independent assessor" wanted around £800 to fix. The quote all in german included something to do with reinstalling doors, handles, window trim!! They deducted it off my credit card very sharpish before I could dispute the cost. I wonder if they will actually have the work done ... or will they continue hiring out this 'nice little earner' scratches, dents and all?

This is now with my insurers - I'm trying to reclaim. What should have been a reasonably priced holiday has become way out of any budget I had.

I smell a scam and it is interesting to see similar experiences.

Careful using MegaDrive in Budapeat. I was charged 150 Euros after returning the car because a small plastic piece that clips onto the underside of the bumper to hide the tow ring fell off. I am not sure if it was missing when I got the car or was improperly installed--either way, it isn't right they charged the customer for "damage" to the vehicle. Of course, the pre-rental check-out was very quick and the post-rental check-in was ultra thorough.

Also, charging more than 100 Euros for the part and 50 Euros for a handling fee are excessive. These charges leave me suspicious since they double the cost of my one-week rental and double their profits. This may be a strategy, be the lowest price, and then look for ways to make more money later. I got an invoice and an explanation in German, I replied and asked for more info, and then didn't get a detailed explanation in English until after I complained to rentalcars.com. They were quick to respond and their pressure worked to get a reply. I wouldn't use MegaDrive again. They offered me the lowest price, about 140 Euros for a week, but I ended up paying twice as much, over 300 Euros. I know they are not fair and I doubt they are honest.

Wir haben am Flughafen Salzburg Anfang August 2018 ein Auto gemietet. Nun hatte unser Flug 2h Verspätung und als wir dort ankamen, sagte man uns, man hätte unsere (bereits bezahlte!) Reservierung storniert, weil wir nun eben 2h zu spät wären und das stünde so auf dem eVoucher. Diesen haben wir mehrfach vorgezeigt, dass dies eben so nicht drauf steht; doch man verwies uns weiter und weiter auf diese 2h-Regelung.
Man bot uns an, ein wesentlich teureres Auto zu mieten, weil das "das einzige war, was sie im Moment noch da hätten". Während wir am Schalter standen, wurden gleichzeitig zig Autos zurückgegeben.
Nunja - der Mitarbeiter am Schalter, Herr Hassan Alrajee, konnte und wollte uns in keiner Weise helfen. Es wurden nur nach mehrfacher Nachfrage, Nummern und Hotlines herausgesucht, die wir in solchen Fällen anrufen können, doch war da zur Abendstunde keiner mehr erreichbar.
Am Ende hatten wir kein Auto und jagen jetzt den Mietkosten erfolglos hinterher...Wirklich bedauerlich.

Awful! DO NOT USE! Mega drive who? The use buchbinder. Disgusting service. Left stuck middle of the hills of Hungary with a 2 year old in the middle of the night. No car rescue was provided. Austrian helpline?? They did not speak English well, took me hours to explain. At the end someone from Hungarian site managed to ring me , she was rude no empathy and unhelpful. Screaming 2 year old I was in the road with no food, no money , no water. Broken down car no help. I had to sort it stop strangers to get me somewhere . Very scary experience lucky I did not broke down bad area, where anything could happen to me and my child. No compensation offered took 160 pounds from me , top of I had to pay that out same to get rescue and new tyre. My holiday with my son was ruined! I will fight!

We rented a car at your company and we are not satisfied with the service we've got!
We feel like your company is trying to manipulate us.

1. The company gave us a car without a spare tire, which we didn't even think to chack because it is so basic. we couldn't continue driving, we had to leave the car and find a ride to our accomadation, then, start to look over a garage to replace the flat tire and the other tire according to the company's orders.

2. When we returned the car the clerk found a scratch inside the door claiming we did it (even though we don't have anything sharp to cause this kind of scratch. we weren't suspicieous enough when we chacked the car to look for tiny scratch in a hidden spot and probably it was already there.

3. Sapose we are responsible for the screch the amount you are asking is scandalous and doesnt match the damege!

4. Another thing that makes me be suspicious about how your company works is the fact that the document for repairing the vehicle is written in German and not in English, It would be appropriate if you send a copy of the damage in a language I can understand!

Not to mention that our vacation was ruined because we hed to run around and worry for all that above.

On return of the car we were told that the car was too dirty (because of the bread crumbs on the back seat) and that the car had to be sent to a valet. Ignoring the fact that the car would have had to be hoovered and cleaned anyway before going to the next customer. So we had to sign a document without being given even a rough estimate of the costs. Next day the bill of 72 Euro arrived via email. Nearly half the cost of a week worth of rental. So the rental cost might be OK, but the extra costs make the profit for Mega Drive.

90 Minuten Warteschlange am Aurport Salzburg. Nie wieder!!! Es ist unverschämt so viele Kunden anzunehmen wie man nicht bedienen kann! Mal sehen ob ich dann auch noch abgezckt werde wie die Vorbewerter. Dieses Unternehmen ist hoffentlich bald vom Markt.

They are thieves. Do not rent from these People. We paid for full insurance (which was extortionate, 30 euros a day), They pretended there was damage under the front fender. We could not see anything and had not had any collision of any kink. They made us sign a form in German and said it did not matter since we had full insurance. Then we found out later they had deducted 340 euros from our credit card.

There was €90 of extra fees when I arrived, and none of it matched the ticket. I rented a BMW 1 series or equivalent. I got a Skoda rapid. A Skoda rapid is not equivalent to a BMW 1 series
